What's classic eastern PA skiing? I'm not trying to start something, I just feel like talking. Is it different then western PA?

Classic eastern PA skiing is different than classic western PA skiing as there are more Jersey/Philly accents and Eagles jackets..it's about being whistled at for fast skiing and being able to plow through death cookies with steeze

Now that I live over the pass in Victor it varies from 35 minutes or so in the summer to 45-60 in the winter (25.6 miles each way). I work at the Seasons at the base of the hill so Im over there anyway every day. I actually like the drive overall, but there are a few days in the winter when Im happy to be alive once I get over the pass.

dang..living over in Idaho...sucky commute

My 2 cents as an eastern PA skier. The Pocono's are what I consider the bottom of the northeast. The ski areas tend to be similar to other areas that are close to New York City and Boston. For example my home area Camelback is about the same size vertically as Crotched Mt in NH. The Pokes get less natural snow but are in a good location for snow making and we always ski on plenty of snow. Pocono towns retain a New England feel in my opinion.

Once you move west and south of the Pocono's there's not much till the middle and western (ie Pittsburgh area) part of the state. We don't joke about it being Pennsyltucky for no reason. To me that is the beginning of the Mid Atlantic ski region. I got to ski Ski Roundtop this past season when my son was competing in The PA State Finals. It wasn't a bad place but to me (and maybe it was just me) didn't retain the same feel.

Places such as Blue Knob in the middle of the state are supposed to be pretty good but for me if I'm going to drive 4 to 5 hours I'll be going north instead of west.

Exact same time for me to Mount Snow.

Wait a second here . . . . if I remember a previous conversation, you have 32 stairs to go down before you can snap into your bindings! That can't possibly take 0 minutes.

It used to rock when mom had a ski-in/ski-out condo at Snowmass and later when she had a house in Park City with a season locker at Deer Valley. I was a dutiful son and visited all the time.

If you ever have kids..they'll have a place to crash at Killington..
