Yep, Legacy wagon. I would be happy with an Impreza wagon now.

I'll give credit for the aftermarket upgrades. However, I can't really say I like the look of that all too much. Not my cup of tea.

I'm getting old. I'd rather drive a more subtle car that's slower. :spin:

Amen. Besides, who's to say that a slower car is less fun. It seems the general car buying public is sold on this concept that faster cars equate to a more exiting and rewarding driving experience. If some of those folks gave a less powerful and flashy car a try, they might find that they are having more fun.

Of course there are others who will always prefer the power and the speed over anything else, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

I'm with you to an extent. My old S-10 pickup was very exciting to drive, especially if it was wet or icy. You can push the envelope just as well in a slow car, just the limits are a lot lower. The added benefit is that if you do lose control and run into something, you're probably only going 5 mph.

Still, I prefer being first out of the toll lane, and hitting 80 or 90 coming out of the on ramp.

That's one of the things that I liked about driving my old Jeep J-10 pickups up until I got me current car. They kept my speed under control, I felt like I was flying if I going 70 (and I probably was on the edge of control at that point).

Now, back into a car, that speed control thing is a little more elusive. It's a good thing I don't have a faster car, and that I've gotten used to the sound of the turbo spooling up so it's not further encouragement to go faster. ;)

Those things were/are cool---what were they Commanders or something like that??
I really dig the new 4dr jeep Rubicon---if I could I'd be driving one of those in a snap.

There were a few different versions over the years. I'm not aware of any Commanders (the Commando was a different Jeep all together). My last one was a Honcho, which some of my friends like to make fun of (shut up Pat). The early ones were called Gladiators. The later, smaller, pickups based on the uni-body XJ platform were called Commanches, but those were a totally different animal.

Great, so you would fall into the second category I mentioned, folks who just have to have lots of power. Nothing wrong with that... its all about personal preference.

Personally I enjoy driving an early 1990s MR2, Miata and 325is more than a new Mustang GT, BMW 335, or even Evo/STi.

Anyway..I like Subarus as good quality, practical cars with a nice doze of quirky personality mixed in...and whats not to like about the awd system, especially as a skier.

It is kinda funny that MT tries to equate the Legacy, which is a pretty big car these days, to a go kart. A real go kart will pull enough Gs to crack ribs... a suped up Legacy, not so much.

I didn't see where they tried to equate the Legacy to a go-kart, more that this particular car was designed to carry a go cart in the back. The headline was misleading and I thought the same as you at first.

I'd take an Audi S4 over that Subi.....or the WRX/STi, Lancer Evo ect. I know the spoilers on those cars are actually functional, but it's just a bit too much for me IMHO. I'd rather blend in a bit.

Not to say any of those other cars are "bad", just not my style.

Maybe Go Cart was a reference to the build quality and finish work? I've ridden in a WRX a few times. It had a really crappy interior. The cabin noise was like flying a C-172.

I can't imagine having a car like that as a daily driver. If I'm going to get a toy that engages all the senses, it's not going to be a Subaru that I commute to the office with.
