hunter says midweek now...Windham changed from sat to sunday,Jiminey hasnt changed website since 11/28.I dont wanna be a douche but why cant belleayre update pic of the day everyday...Kinda what PIC OF THE DAY MEANS ...No????

Ya i see it, but he dont blow very much snow.
Belleayre had a webcam a few years back. I think the NY State politicians got tired of too many phone calls every time Belleayre turned on a snow gun. Too many people complaining about Belleayre that don't even ski or ride. Hunter's Webcams displayed snow top to bottom a few days ago which is almost all gone. Taxpayers in NY City are not calling their politicians because of snowmaking decisions at Hunter.

I've heard a dozen different versions of this, so I'll ask again... maybe #13 will be the winner. What is the difference in funding between Belleayre (NYS) and Gore/Whiteface (NYS/ORDA)?

The issue isnt the friggin cams..Its the PIC of the day...key word is DAY...today is 12/5 pic is from 12/1.Its not just this year it was all last yr. And yes this is all because season is a month late to start.
So Sorry i need to vent...bored out of mind.

It just started snowing at noon here in Woodstock. Stay tune. News Sunday morning.
Current temp at Belleayre is 26 degrees. Should be even colder tonight.

Belleayre did have the 12/1 pic of the day up for 4 days... but that pic was supposedly taken at 6:00 am 12/5.

The snow guns were roaring at 6am this morning and they will continue to do so as weather permits!

Winging it here, but as I understand it Belleayre is part of the NYS general budget, directly owned by the state or Dept of Environmental Conservation, and administered by the DEC.
Gore and Whiteface are owned and operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), a separate quasi-governmental entity just like the MTA, Port Authority, Thruway Authority, etc. These have their own budgets and bonding authority, and I think are entitled to control their own revenues There are hundreds of these entities -- see listings and descriptions here: http://www.osc.state.ny.us/pubauth/index.htm They were originated in the era of of Robert Moses who became the head of thirteen or fifteen different state authorities back in his empire (state) building days -- and far more powerful as a result than any mere elected official -- see The Power Broker by Robert Caro.
That's as best I can make out -- anyone who really knows please correct.

Belleayre's conditions report is pretty lame. Any catskill experienced folk guess when they will commit (and post via the web) yea/nay for 06Dec opening? Also, any guess what trails would be available if they do open?

PS Looks damm good outside. Just came back from the Rutgers game (they lost to WV again, 24-21) but my son and I had a blast with the game and snowflakes pounding the field.

Yup which means you have to get off at midstation on lift 7.
