hey guys, i am back

Time to start posting again!

Two things:

First of all, the pic of the day bugs me too. Not updating it is one thing, and also not archiving them is another thing. That is why I take screen captures of good pic-of-days and post them on my blog as a screen cap. I think that is OK. Nobody has asked me to take them down yet. I think the rule is if you are commenting on something in a blog, not stealing content, that is ok.

Second of all, I have a report from someone in Margaretville that there was 6" of snow on her deck as of 6 PM. I have a report from a BMRA ski coach that was at Bell for CPR training today and is staying locally. He said at 7:30 PM that the snow was heavy and wet, and the ground is not frozen. I believe that makes it hard to hold the snow and more difficult to groom. He said he saw Tony around noon and that Tony said tomorrow's opening was still iffy.

The web site says they will be open. I would like to go up, but driving 2:15 for mid-station laps would suck. I think I need to dig out some rock skis and call at 6 AM to make a final decision. If it is only mid-station, I guess I will have to settle for a local MTB ride!

Belleayre's conditions report is pretty lame. Any catskill experienced folk guess when they will commit (and post via the web) yea/nay for 06Dec opening? Also, any guess what trails would be available if they do open?

thx

PS Looks damm good outside. Just came back from the Rutgers game (they lost to WV again, 24-21) but my son and I had a blast with the game and snowflakes pounding the field.
Call 'em? ;-)

Onteora from mid-station. Ouch. Needless to say, riding the MTB today is my choice... Hitting Belleayre next weekend!

I'm shocked...you are a Belleayre regular.

I was there at Belleayre yesterday...stopped at Hunter on the way over, guns were blasting on the mainline and Belt, also at Hunter One.

As silly as the terrain at Belleayre was, I used my good skis and tried out my new boots. Wound up skiing from about 10:30 to close. Up Down Up Down Up Down Up Down...rinse and repeat.

I actually had a good time after the boredom wore off. The snow was quite good, especially on the right edge of Onteora, and some of the poachable trails were fun too. No base damage at all.

Enjoyed the new boots tremendously. Was just glad to get out and ski. The jones has died down a bit.
