Burton is moving its VT manufacturing to Austria....
Plain and simple burton sucks. He became very wealthy from what he learned in vermont and now to get richer he screws his neighbor..? Where does it stop?
Vermont gave him the vision to become what he is today. I don't understand your last sentance.just playing devil's advocate here...first, its a public corporation now, so for the most part, (however unfortunate it is) the bottom line rules. 2nd, the company employed and still employs a lot of people in Vt. 3rd, wasn't it more happenstance that he was in Vt. when he was coming up with the original designs in Stratton and Londonderry. He could have been elsewhere and the company would have been in a different state. Also, Burton has already been making boards in Austria for 25 years. So, I ask you, what did Vt. really do for Burton? Isn't it and doesn't it continue to be... the other way around?
Burton is a private, not a public company.
Burton Sucks all around, IMHO (except the Fish, of course)

At ~400 employees still in Vt. Burton is still probably one of the larger employers in the state.
I'm pretty fond of their thermal shirts actually. There's like one non-idiotic looking one a year (in plain black instead of bright colors).
Makes a great midlayer for me, and is pretty comfortable to wear normally as well. It's good in a wide range of temps, and holds up well.
I wouldn't pay the $50 they're supposed to cost, but for $20 on the end of season sales, it's nice.
