It's been a few years since I've been up in the area. If I get that pass I need to spend a lot of time there as I truly love that mtn.

Stratton used to have a couple fairly cheap places. I'm looking for sun/monday nights. Does not have to be even a little bit nice. I'll f&%^^cking sleep in my clothes if its disgusting. I just need heat and maybe some form of shower. There used to be a great dorm set up in Kingfield but I think it may be gone.

I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Carrabassett Inn. Maybe a 10 minute or less drive from the access road and, much to our surprise one time, strippers every Friday night!! That was a great story last year.

Trust me, there will be no USA Today on your door when you wake up.

snoseek,
As for Stratton...I have to admit its been ~1yr+ since I've been over there....will make an effort to scout out again, but yes White Wulff Inn....had some water damage last season..but should be back in business. One had to show up before 8pm(pub/restaurant closing time) in order to get keys for a room.
The name of motel(lefthand side, before downtown) escapes me..Spillover Motel I think it is...and then the Tranquility Inn, converted barn..didn't have private tv, but nice couple took it over...is ~.5mi just over the town line(bearing right)..on the road to Eustis..on Flagstaff's shore. A little more $$$ but still less than the main hotel @bottom of mountain(by the main lodge). Ya' just don't get that kind of a great time every day!..(re: Carrabassett Inn), a real hit when with a family...lol.

Some further investigation I found this little gem

Sounds like 20 a night for the bunkhouse and 40 for a private room. I'll go with the 20 thank you very much. Ahhhhh to be single again!

Wow, That's awesome. Bookmarked!!! Thanks for the link on your research snoseek. I don't know why I couldn't find that place before. I am always looking out for cheap bunk houses. I find that they are hardest to find on my longest drives. I might be making more trips to Saddleback this year at only $20 per night! Especally with their mid-week deal... that is lodging and lift ticket for the price of a lift ticket only at most resorts for mid-week.

I actually stayed here (Stratton Motel) the night before Patriot's Day this past year (after reggae fest ended). Rooms were not glorious, but definitely tolerable, and came to a little under $50 with tax for two double beds. Shower was fine, came with towels, soap, shampoo. I think the remote control on the TV was missing batteries, but my buddy and I didn't care. The lady that ran the motel, Sue, was very nice. I would stay there again if going to Sugarloaf. Worth the extra 10 minute drive for the savings. We stopped at a few other motels along the way and their rates were not even close to this price. We were definitely the only ones staying there that night, so I can't comment on noise between rooms.

We tried to stay in the bunk rooms initially, but they were not open until later in the Spring to accommodate the AT thru-hikers. I don't think they are open at all during the winter.

Good drive over to the Loaf, but in Rangely, so should be close to Saddleback. The rates posted are the summer rates, I assume winter would be higher.
