What are people's opinions of the mixed event later this week? Will it kill whatever Killington has open or will it soak the snow on the ground, then freeze overnight into bulletproof? What are the chances we luck out, and it's mainly snow at higher elevation?

I'm running in the Manchester Relay Marathon on Sun, and I never gave any thought to skiing on Sat, but after seeing the coverage Killington has, my interest is piqued.

It's looking like it'll be productive for K. Around 8" total through Saturday morning at the base of the NRT, and any rain should be cold enough that it won't do a thing. Friday might be a bit firm, but Saturday should have a few inches of new snow on top, once groomed should be ok.

Glass half-full. Very nice indeed. K should have some pretty nice conditions.

Mt. Snow was planning to open a park this weekend, but the park is at low elevation, which may be problematic. I hope not. We'll see.

On the Maine end of the spectrum, it appears the NCP will be the order of the day from this storm, unless it misses. That being said, SR should have T2B (Possibly multiple routes) this weekend based on their fairly massive snowmaking efforts. They clearly have taken a gamble, but will likley have made enough to not be too adversely affected by the impending torrent!

Others making snow, but it looks like only a couple options this weekend.

There will be a crew of us TB. Barker around 11.30 is always the safe bet.

I have no idea what we will have until after the storm. I am staying positive. I could be raking leaves instead.

I'm a little concerned that Maine gets the heaviest of the r*&n...2 waves of it...while VT skims by on the western fringe and then gets first crack at the colder backside air and snow showers. I don't know how much SR has piled up so I hope they don't lose too much of what they just made. Pass along reports when you go--I'm interested to see how they fare.

PS - any plans to change the pictures on the front page of Snowforecast.com? After 3 years I'm tired of looking at the same snowboarder at Jackson Hole (2007) and telemarker in Colorado.

Oh, I know--you and me both. We're in the middle of a ton of pre-season prep and that's one of things on the list. We had some contest winner photos from last year that need to go up too! We're working on it!

I'm tempted to head up to Killington on Sunday. I'm in two minds though, I really don't want to be dealing with bulletproof conditions on my first day. However, I'm ITCHING to go.
