I used to think that MRG flew the "pirate flag of skiing"
Having skied at both places fairly recently and seen the vibe that Evan has created, I'd say the pirate flag passes over to Whaleback.

Drive by all the time. Always check it out, and give a little cheer when I see skiers/riders on the lift, or even any signs of life. If you watch how hard they work, you can't help but root for them. Pirate? Most def; MRG is positively mainstream by comparison.

Whaleback takes the cake

We do like to buck trends at Whaleback. I think that we should put that sweet tag line on our home page or maybe use it for all marketing pieces this year. I have asked the well intended but somewhat misguided young man administering that particular facebook page to change his language. Glad that you posted something in this forum to bring it to my attention.

Nice to see someone of influence, power and stature actually reads these posts! I didn't think twice about it. Wouldn't a pirate flag be simpler?
Keep up the great work E!

We do have a pirate flag in the bar and used to have one on the flag pole outside, but we are trying to clean up our image. Hope to never really be that corporate and homogenized. Thanks for the support.

Whaleback is a place I've driven past numerous times (always been closed though), but I'd definitely stop by there sometimes. It's good to support the little guys, although I don't know if my tees are long enough.

My brother used to patrol there so I skied there once while he was working. Most hard packed snow I'd seen since skiing in Connecticut. Definitely a jibbers mountain though. They could have Tenney's old shaved ice system there. They'd never close!
