That thing is huge!! Found an article that states they run 9000 gpm's..wonder how many that pump produces. My pumps where 7000 gpm's but tiny compared to that thing.

Is that the run called Huega and Droppoff?

No, that's Hellgate for the upper portion, Broadway/7th Avenue for the wide middle section, and Kennedy Drive for the lower section.

Heuga is the upper trail that "comes around" from the back side of the mountain about halfway down on the right.

The start and most of Dropoff is invisible because of the contours of the mountain from this angle, but you can see the last pitch as it merges into Belt on the lower right. Belt is invisible until the merge because it's too flat in that area.

Thanks millerman. Been a while since I've been to Hunter and I only live 75 minutes away. I promised DMC that I would get up there this season midweek and spend a day or two with him on the hill. I think I'll be able to keep that promise. Hopefully some midweek powder days are in store for Hunter, and that's when I'll go meet him....hopefully.

looking at that display, surprised they're not opening saturday as windham is. in any case, thinking the decision of not blowing before the the deluge was the right plan. you'll be starting with a nice clean base.

They could open Sat if they did midstation skiing but they prefer top 2 bottom for a better experience.. I agree..

"You know what's cool? We think it's really cool that both Greene County ski areas will be open this weekend and that our guests will soon be visiting our wonderful county that we call home...and the local business will be busy once again and sharing our wonderful hospitality to all. Two great ski areas...one great county. Ski Greene...!!!"

Those pumps came from US Navy Battleships
I was always told those electric pumps at Hunter came from salt mines that closed down in the 1950s.

Why would a Navy Battleship need an electric pump that big? Its not like Navy battleships had big squirt guns to take out the enemy or had rally long electric extension cords from shore. :smash:

uh oh - I hope the pumps are ok..

Facebook quote "Just shut down for an hour to change over equipment...we'll be back up shortly...no worries."

In other words something is broky! Very sad! But I'll be nice and not post that on the facebook page! I have never seen all of the snowmaking go off at once unless you have a power failure or something catastrophic break!
