I don't see any Guns on the lower Belt near Racers.

I'd take mid station skiing any day. Now I have to decide if we are going over to Windham or hiking. The quad is running and boy is she fast. I meant the 6 pack.

Scratch that, guns on Lower Belt just went on. Finally Hunters firepower is showing its true self. What are the predictions for next weekend?

6-Pack lift observation:

I am not familiar with these 6 passenger lifts... but they look to me like a tight fit. On the left is 4 snowmakers riding up hunters new 6-pack lift and on the right is a pic of the 6-pack at Blue Mountain in PA. Maybe those 4 snowmaker guys are huge. Granted the quality of the left pic is not good.

I just rode the 6 pack up and down. There is no soft opening today. They are grooming now and it should be a great opening. There is plenty of room on the lift for all you big guys.

The thing is fast. 5.5 minutes. Same capacity though. Only 84 chairs. Each chair is 1000 pounds. They claim 1/3rd fewer wind holds.

Having ridden the 6-pack at Blue a bunch, it holds 6 people easily, quite comfortably.

Not to get technical, but each chair weighs 1200 pounds! So even better for wind!

Temps look good this week. What does everyone think the weekend will look like? Will there be long lift lines if they are 90% open? Thinking about heading up Sunday.

As a general rule, before Christmas and after March 1, weekends are usually fine. (No/non-existent lines), doesn't really matter how much or how little terrain is open.

I'd expect after they get a few bugs worked out the less stops on the 6-pack should reduce liftlines a bit.

Yesterday the 6 did not run until 12:15. The wind at the top was intense. It seemed to jerk the big chairs more with more people on the chair. The chair is fast and smooth and comfortable. Loading on a "ski right on the lift day" was a little funky with the gates. I wonder if they can leave them open on less crowded days. Before the 6 opened you took the B lift to the F lift.
The skiing was great considering there was no snow just a few days ago. The upper part of Hellgate was typical - skied off crust down the middle combined with some piles of snow(by 10:30). A little farther down the skiers left had a little bump run in the gully and skiers right had cookies that did not break up all day. There was no snow blowing on Hellgate. Broadway had a couple of snow cannons pumping some silky powder. This was the best part of the run all day. Kennedy Drive was hard pack but loaded with some fun whales.
In the afternoon the temp at the top was about 12 degrees. The snowmaking at the top was dry and powdery. The snowmaking at the bottom was wetter and stuck to your goggles. There were flurries all day but it did not seem to add anything to the conditions.

Once again Hunter delivers a great day.
