Resort or Ski Area: Breckenridge, CO Peak 8

Conditions: Groomers and snow flurries

Trip Report: We did it...moved to Alma, CO about 20 minutes S of Breckenridge just over Hoosier Pass. We got in about 2 days ago, found a place to live and picked up our passes this morning to hit the mountain. Jimmy had knee surgery not to long ago so we took it easy, just a couple of runs.

Took the 8 passenger BreckConnect Gondola up to the lifts at Peak 8. Rode the Colorado SuperChair up and came down some nice easy trails like Springmeier, Crescendo and Swinger. Mostly groomers and not much powder out here right now, we are waiting for the big snow storm to roll in. :snow:

We are both still getting acclimated, minor headaches, huffin and puffin....hopefully not to much longer. we'll get the hang of it.

Just up and moved? Like a total change of scenery from Vermont? If so bold move and good luck to you. I'm sure alot of people here dream of that but never make it happen. I could definately live in the Inter-Mountain west.

Yea, I did my internship during college out here and have wanted to come back ever since. It took a couple years longer than I'd hoped for but a window opened and we jumped.

Wow, Alma is super high!!!!!! Drink lots of water. Don't get frustrated with the altitude thing. It takes longer than you think to fully acclimate.

You picked a cool (and cheap) laid back little village IMO. If you need any furniture or anything like that I'm getting rid of a ton of stuff in Denver in a couple weeks on my way through to Tahoe. I've got a super nice queen foam queen mattress that will be going for free.

You made a good move, enjoy!

Yeah our house is at 10,700feet, not something we are used to coming from 400ft in VT. Headaches are finally going away but definitely still sob. A glass of water for every beer to help us stay hydrated.

Ya it is a great fit for us, 20 minutes from Breck but out of the way enough for us and the dog to enjoy the woods.

About that furniture...Ill PM you. Thanks!
