Now, I don't think you need to be checking emails, making work calls, playing angry birds underneath a kicker in the terrain park, etc. but in general I think the phone is incredibly useful on the slopes.

I actually finished a close on a deal with Wal-Mart on the old quad at Hunter..
Biggest deal in that companies history and I was snowboarding while we finalized it... :)

But not under a kicker..

PS: Really? no mobile phone at all?
Nope. Years ago when they first came out I was offshore fishing with friends. One of my friends was into a nice fish & then all of a sudden ring, ring. It was his wife on the phone & they started having an argument while he's holding the phone in one hand & the fishing pole in the other. He wound up losing the fish. I told myself then & there I'm never getting one of those damm things. I can see some people needing one for business, I don't.

WTH answers phone calls while fighting fish? That's a dumb reason to not have a cell phone.

That's like saying because Michael Kennedy was killed playing football while skiing, you're never going to ski. WTH plays football skiing?

This, I have an extra battery, not sure where it came from, my Brother set me up with the phone, used, Cowboom, HTC Incredible. I use my phone as an MP3 player, so it goes through batteries quite fast in very cold weather. I charged up both batteries while skiing at the AZ Summit, the back up stayed charged even though it was cold, 90% when I plopped it into the phone.
Buy 3500 mah batteries and an external charger. I run the batteries to empty to condition them. The phone doesn't charge the batteries to full.

You don't need to condition your battery anymore because of lithium ion. It's been a long time since that was true.

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
My cheap ass little tracfone :stirpot: w orks no problem at all in the cold , even in the outside pockets :)

Hell yeah. My tracfone is a flip phone and it'll still have full battery at the end of the day. I did a 3 day Smuggler's Notch trip this year and never had to charge my phone once. And yes, it was COLD. 20 on Sat. 10 on Sun. 5 on Mon.

Another thing that is happening is if your cell phone is roaming, it will consume more battery searching for a signal. Maybe a bigger concern for non verizon users.

Turn off mobile data or put your phone in airplane mode if you don't need it. Some of the new gps apps for smartphones don't need 3g to function.

By the way, your phone with 3 g and wifi turned off will last a couple of days because it's just doing less.

Sticking a toe warmer pack to the back of your phone helps it from the cold sapping it.

I keep a charged external USB battery with me especially when I am doing sidecountry or back country. They charge your phone fast and you can keep other devices charged. You can get them stand alone but I got mine with one of the solar panels Voltiac sells. Just a USB cable from battery to phone and hit button.

Here is what I use:

I keep my iPhone next in an inner pocket to stay warm. Shut down all apps I don't need.
Lasts all day - may have to givve it a boost at happy hour for the night...

My experience as well.

i have an iphone 4s and my otter box is actually a phone charger as well. holds 150% battery life in addition to the life of the phones battery. it does cost a pretty penny tho.

I keep tow warmers in my ski bag for cold days. No room to put them in my boots but they work great on the back of the phone. Makes the battery last twice as long. Just wish they came in seperate compartments oike the hand warmers so I didnt waste one every time.

Ha...Your the only person I have ever seen talking on the phone while dropping into waist high pow..

My buddy on the phone was very jealous. I was having a hard time not screaming "woooooo hoooooooooooo!" into his ear.

I still find 2 way radios to work best for getting connected to people on the slopes. Works on Europe and where ever you don't have service.

When I bought the HTC Rezound, I bought the "extended battery". It lasts me atleast 2 days on "normal
" usage". At Killington a few weeks ago I GPS tracked my entire day with Alpine replay, while listening to music, and made/received a few calls from the wife while skiing separately. at 4 PM it kicked over to "Yellow" in the battery meter. I consider that a pretty good usage of battery, especially with the phone using GPS and struggling to latch onto a signal because I was in the mountains all day.

I have always kept my phone in my inside pocket and have had no problems with battery life.

iPhone/iPad Exchange users should upgrade to ios 6.1.2 to alleviate the Exchange Bug that was eating up battery...

Exchange doesn't play very well with iOS in general.

I don't know about the back-end stuff but the UI works well enough..

Most of my company uses IOS(iPhone/iPad)...
Also works well on my MAC.. Have full Outlook/Office..
