If you can go before storm hits and you be making powder runs while everyone else is stuck because or avanlation control, oh wait that is Alta/ Snowbird still go before snow comes have fun times.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'd rather not deal with wind holds. Being mid week, I'm sure there will be plenty of freshies on Thursday/Friday. Just booked my hotel. Going to get up there Wednesday night so we can be there when the lifts start spinning on Thurs. Pumped!

Maybe the weather and the fact that their large competitor to the south announced that they are making snow.

I wonder if Jay will follow.

Jay, Sugarloaf, Sunday River, and Killington look to be committed to staying open as late as possible. It will be interesting to see if Sugarbush makes snow on Stein's because Sugarbush used to be in the "open late" pack until recently.

The Bush puts extra snow during the winter on Steins as that is planned as the last trail open. I doubt they will be doing anymore snowmaking but you never know. As you mentioned mother nature is acting somewhat normally, so far. Got a few more inches last night, other possibilities in the near future.

Two years ago, it was the first weekend of May when Sugarbush closed for the season. We had terrain off Heaven's Gate open, from summit to base. Last year... well, we'll not talk about last year. It was the end of March and it wasn't pretty. It was just Stein's for the last week or so.

Regardless, we did make a ton of snow on Stein's and it's runout (Coffee Run), plus on Snowball and Spring Fling. It all depends on the weather, of course. Don't count us out in the late-season game.

If Sugarbush blew Steins & Coffee run anything like Killington blows Superstar I'm sure Sugarbush would be the last man standing. Steins has the best exposure to hold snow of any trail in VT. in my opinion. Just run Valley House chair.

I would think Upper FIS to Looking Good on Mt. Ellen would be better. Those trails see more sun than Stein's, but you're starting elevation is almost above the top elevation of Stein's. Beers and lounging in the sun at the Glen House. Even though it would require a chairlift download; that right there is the best spring skiing set up in New England.

I think that Upper FIS has too much exposure to wind and snow would get blown off to fast. Steins on the other hand is well hidden by woods on either side.

I belive that Gore made snow on Lies last night, as well as some thin spots in high traffic areas, March snowmaking is a first for them as far back as I can remember. Nothing from Whiteface and I would be shocked if they made snow, but with Gore doing it, maybe ORDA has given it's blessing?

Stein's seems to hold snow great based on my April visits over the last few years. It's the runout that's would be a problem I think. Also they seem to prefer the Super Bravo chair to the Valley house, which adds another flat section. The nice thing about Superstar pod is the lack of runout.

I just drove by Haystack in VT about an hour ago and they had the guns blasting on one trail top to bottom. I guess they're getting a good number of people signing up for the club?
