Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback
Conditions: Powder, Packed Powder, Spring
Trip Report: Really good day at Saddleback. The amount of snow they have is the deepest it has been all year. This is Black Beauty and it was buried. Bluebird. Temps lower 40's at base. low to mid 30's up high. Perfect.

Wow, what a difference between Saddleback and Sunday River. Down south, I had full blown spring conditions and almost short sleeve shirt weather, a far cry from powdery winter conditions that you guys had.

Awesome - what did you ski down from the summit soposkier?

At first I skied down to the right (when looking down the mountain) from the summit towards casablanca, but ran into a dead end in the form of the very thick spruce trees. From the tracks I was not the only one to have made this mistake. So then I hiked back up to the summit and went down more to the left and ended up in the somewhat cleared section above either wardens worry or black beauty, forgot which one. Snow was great though, as you know, still midwinter conditions. Not a hint of spring at the summit yet. Lots of people hiking up to the summit, but not many actually skiing down. Amazing up there, completely different world.

Damn, looks sweet, Salsgang, we'll have to hook up for some turns next year, I've yet to ski the upper mountain at Saddleback. I tried to ski it after the AZ Summit, they didn't even open, wind. I do have a raincheck good through next season. Any chance of skiing there the Friday before the AZ Summit next year? I think you should pencil in a day off then. I'm sure BackLoafRiver would join us, anyone else would be welcome, the more the merrier.
