I'm looking to get a new ski coat for the upcoming season. I've noticed that manufacturers are starting to make ski coats that have 2x4 inch plastic window that you can slide your season pass in so that don't have to worry about it breaking off of a lanyard or strapping it around your arm.

I haven't seen there be a standard name for what this is called though, which is making searching for them difficult through google. Anyone know what these are called,or if they know any manufacturers that make this?

Does the mountain need the pass to be seen every lift ride, or is it a mtn that uses the new style scan where the pass can be anywhere on the body?
If you need the visible shoulder pocket, many Karbon jackets I see have it.

Karbon, Phoenix, Spyder (the "good" stuff they sell in actual ski shops, not big box stores), Descente, Goldwin and Mammut are some brands where I've seen some of their coats with "pass window pockets"

It tends to a feature on better, ski/board specific coats, and sold through non big box stores with typically a price starting at $350-400 new and going up from there. For that price though, you usually get one heck of a well thought out coat design with pockets for just about everything in places that make sense and a very high tech water/wind proof shell and insulation.

I've used pockets like these for years. Sometimes there are issues scanning through the plastic at the lift. Last year one of my plastic season passes left an imprint of its own ink on the transparent pass pocket. That was the first time I'd seen that. Pocket was useless after that and the pass itself was so faded to almost be unscannable.

After that I started using the hanging dongle things again. I'll probably stick with those this year even though I lost a pass on the hill once using them.
