Smuggs has awesome trails but the resort and chairs suck. Outdated and gross.
I'll head south to the beast ;)

And about that latte, I prefer hot chocolate :spin: lol

To his point we have been there a couple of time and probably will this year but timing is everything. With two seaters everywhere, the lines get long and you wait longer than the chair ride up which also takes a while. However, does not get skied off as quickly for that reason!

Nice to see Smuggs getting it with 10" overnight. Powderfreak on Americanwx said it was coming down at Stowe too. At least some places within driving access seem to be shaping up nicely even if I can't get there now.

I guess I'm just one of those guys who's there for the terrain. I could care less about the lodge, and as long as the chairs get me up the hill it's all good.

If a place has great terrain and good snow, the other things aren't even factors for me.

I agree with you 100% (except for the bit where you triggered perhaps my #1 anal pet peeve). A bit of a hike for you, but you should hit Plattekill sometime after a 10" dump, you'd love it.

If I am going to drive up 5+ hours to ski, then I would atleast like a descent room. With all the money you're spending they should at least have a place to relax after driving. A S***hole like the condos at smugglers isn't what I would like to drive into again. Something clean and simple is what I go for. Good skiing, descent lodging and nice people is why I go up.:flag:

If I'm driving 3.5 hours, the skiing better be awesome. For $50/day for lift and lodging, I just hope the room is warm and that I can plug in my coffee maker somewhere. I have a nice place to stay the other 362 nights of the year, I can suck it up for 3 nights!

If i am going on vacation and paying good money for it, I shouldn't have to "suck it up" if my room is god-awful.

I'm not filing this under "vacation"! This is skiing at Smuggs for 4 days on the cheap. As far as the room goes, it can't possibly be worse than some of the places I lived in my early 20's...

You act like we're paying $200 a night or something. We get it. Its not your thing.

You could always upgrade to a 3 bedroom condo for $200 plus a night. That's paying good money.

C-Rex that's a good deal. I've never found lift lines to be a problem at Smuggs. Then again I ski mostly during the week. Hope you have a good time.

It's all personal preference. Smuggs has carved out its own niche that separates themselves from that other place in the notch. You want a pricey beautiful hotel with an on site spa stay with the other guys.

What pet peeve is that?

It's an English thing.

Yup; skiing optional.

Meh, look it takes all types to make the world go-round.

And the truth is, if not for the hoards of 1 to 3 times-per-season skiers out there we'd all be paying a LOT more for lift tickets. So I salute the "must have a wonderful room and a spa" crowd.

Thanks for providing me with $20 ski days!
