The snow within the gun and grooming swath is good. But bare spots past the throw of the guns.

When was that Puck?Obviously not today as they got new snow and it rebounded pretty good from a report I had today.

I don't think it's the "favorite" of anybody... just the closest to many posters in eastern MA and RI. Same with Sundown and Hunter... closest hills to many posters in CT and NYC respectively.

Hunter is the favorite of lots of people yes it is is less then 2 hours from metro NYC area. It also has best terrain for experts for all of the Catskills, MA, CT South Vermont, they make lots of snow to.

That would explain why the snowmaking is headed there next.Didn't realize the bottom melted out that bad.

I've never skied in CT just making a half serious comment based on my observations of trip reports here lately.
If I had to make a more serious guess who's got the best conditions now I'd guess Sunapee or maybe Okemo and certain areas of Killington.

Maybe favorite for the sake of practicality then. I'm close to Jiminy Peak, not a huge fan of the place but if I need to get out and ski it's only 40 minutes away opposed to the hour and 20 to Gore. Makes for good after work turns. It's nice to be in an area with a big hill that is fairly close, and a kicker hill that's even closer.
You missed the days of daily bump videos from Sundown. I have skied there once and it's a nice little mountain with a little more trail variety than Wachusett.

I went there once a few years ago. I agree it's better than Wachusett for a number of reasons.

Gonna stand up for these smaller local mountains (feeder's if you want). Would love to ski the biggies all the time, but its just not possible. Here in the Pocono's snowmaking is a way of life and we are definitely dealt more "bad weather". Yet every year they get the entire mountain open which is all you can ask. The trees aren't an option here and natural snowfall is scarce, but "inbounds" is well covered with manmade and it lasts through out the season, and yes there are times when the skiing here is better because of it. I see my home bump pretty much as a work out facility. When I start travelling after the meat of the season here, the muscles and timing etc. are in good shape and adventures to the big boys are really enjoyable. With my current schedule and obligations, I'm glad I've got something local to play on.

Oh, I enjoyed some of them and and I wish Wachusett supported a good bump run like Sundown does. It's just that seeing the same thing over and over again got a little old. I get the Sundown love.
