For the life of me I can never understand why beginners insist on flocking to the hill on Thanksgiving but by mid March when the snow is the deepest, terrain is 100% open, and there is a much better chance of warm sunny days, they are nowhere to be found.

Because it is warm and they are thinking sand and beach. Only the dedicated skier looks for turns at all corners of the calendar.

Sounds like they opened the Six a little while ago. Heard they're parking folks at Snowshed and Rams Head. That's a lot of people for whats open. Would love to be skiing Ridge Run and Powerline right about now though.

Aaaaand I now officially regret switching to Epic for convenience purposes. Not that I can get out till Tuesday anyway, but I know Mt Snow and Okemo will never have any natural stuff open because god forbid someone might scratch a ski.

I skied 16k vertical and lapped fresh lines in and out of the woods. The delay was annoying. I stood towards the front of the singles line for an hour til they opened the lifts. I got a few laps on north ridge before it got wild. I had one unpleasant line for the gondola. Otherwise I listened to music on the 5-10 minutes (at their worst) singles lines. Once they opened Snowden chair lines weren’t that bad bad. Also dunno what you expect on limited terrain + thanksgiving + World Cup weekend + 21” powder day. Killington did an admirable job today and got the Snowden open to move the people. I had a great day. Maybe my best first day ever. Did not expect to be skiing powder and trees til 4 on day 1!

I’m staying in WRJ. I drove to the taco place downtown. It’s gone. It’s now a very fucking nice restaurant and I’m at the bar with a hill farmstead porter waiting on crusted halibut

Life is wonderful! Skiing is the greatest!

No, from the reservoir to a pump station at the corner of 100 and 4 and then up a big buried feedline following old Noreaster/Sundog, then down Bear Cub to the Bear Pond.

Yeah I meant Northeast Passage area. I figured when those trails still remain clearer than the other trails in that pod. When did that feed go in relative to build out/abandonment there?

I knew what you meant, my point was they are not using the old distribution pipe that was there which was smaller diameter and aboveground. They ran a new 24" capable of moving 10K when they began withdrawing from Woodward.

IMG_4105.jpegIMG_4110.jpegSince you posted that at 11:30, I’m guessing you left before the crowds rolled in… I agree the morning was pretty nice. The World Cup buzz was great, until the very end, when the buzz was quite quickly killed. Anyway, I got my first day, and, importantly, a November day, in.

(Race venue as seen from Highline, full of those soft bumps)

The singles lines were almost ski on all morning, the race was crowded. I left early afternoon when the lines were overflowing from the corral
