Sugarbush budgets the gallons needed for each trail. This is not news. This year the month of January was consistently cold and a new policy with Green Mountain Power allowed them to operate without any curtailments. As a result the budgeted depth for all the trails was reached by the end of January. In fact, it is my understanding that more gallons were pumped than last year. This is noticeable on a number of the trails, especially at LP where the goal in to keep skiing into the first week of May on Spring Fling, Snowball and Stein’s. And yes, as Hawk mentioned, Mother Nature is kicking in. I just back from Utah and the skiing s better here, although they are now getting some needed refresh. The forecast here this week is looking good,
Interesting about GMP. I was wondering why we hadn’t heard about any curtailments this year.

I’m not sure why some people are so hung up on how long into the season they make snow. As long as everything is covered with the expected depths, I’m happy. Personally I’d say the earlier they finish the better.

ummmm, because the lift issue has tapped out so now back to the snowmaking. Of course they're done early, there's been no thaw. And the forecast in the short and medium term is devoid of disaster. Great conditions this weekend. Sunday was more pleasant than expected with little wind. Although I wore too many layers as I have a habit of doing.

Sunday felt warmer than Saturday thanks to the lack of wind…. Was definitely not as bad as expected.

Agree that conditions were quite good this weekend overall.

FYI, yesterday morning and this morning were exceptionally good. 5-6 inches of fresh snow each day. Yesterday much drier than today. Today was significantly more dense. A good thing since the wind was honking in the am today. Woods have filled in nicely. 9am down Waterfall was spectacular. 6 inches on top of a groom on Spring Fling was heaven. Possibly the two best mornings back to back I've had in years

My season is now over - new shoulder to replace this mess tomorrow morning. You guys can thank me for the great snow coming tomorrow (4-5") and Sunday (9-11").
Was the coldest day of the year up there this morning. Deep penetrating cold.
