Anyone go to community day? Anything worth noting from John's state of the resort presentation?
I thought it was a waste of time. He thanked the local fire departments for responding to the blaze that destroyed the golf course building. He babbled a bit about snowmaking, but nothing anyone here doesn't already know. The only bit of real information was that Alterra sent Dopplemayer techs to pull apart Slidebrook to fix it. It will run again this season. He ended saying something along the lines of "I was supposed to speak for three minutes and I've gone for seven".

Compared to what we used to get from Win Smith when Summit Ventures owned the place, it was a disappointing presentation. I would probably pass next October

That's pretty disappointing given the recent lack of clear communication. I said it upthread. At one point, even the most ardent supporter will get frustrated with a consistent lack of communication and seek other options. It's a silly way to do business and a self inflicted wound.

So the SB manager only got 7 minutes to speak? What else happened?

That was it. Seven minutes at most. Disappointing to say the least. I think NRX replacement is a long ways off. No mention of lifts other than the minor replacement on the bunny hill at Mt Ellen. Certainly nothing in the near term.

Wondering if there's a recording somewhere that we can watch/listen to?

Oh boy...just got an e-mail that you can get a "Reserve Pass" as an add-on to your Sugarbush or Ikon pass to get priority lift line access at Super Bravo! (Along with access to some private apre-ski lounge). A mere $2K!

Now you know why they got of early ups...
...so they could charge 2k for it.

As far as I could tell, this doesn't give early access though...just priority access during normal hours (the fine print before the webpage was taken down said it would basically be sharing the ski school line at the lift).

This whole thing just screams "out of touch" though...

Edit...just tried the link from my e-mail instead of the one urungus posted. Works fine - https://www.sugarbush.com/sugarbush-reserve

So what did they do the rest of the time? Talk about how awesome Alterra is and high five each other?

Nowhere now, but everywhere
By the way, the $2000 Reserve pass does not include lift access, it is an additional cost on top of your season pass.
I wonder how much they will be charging for cocktails? Interesting to read the "FAQ's"... limited to only 275 passes sold = $550,000.00 revenue. Bar hours mirror Bravo lift times plus one hour later than it closes. You only get one hour after skiing to enjoy the joint! Then what, go join the unwashed masses at CR Pub?

SB did not have to look far to find an example of a line cutting pass.

Stratton has had a line cutting pass on weekends and holidays - Speed Bear Pass. I think it is only available to members of the Stratton Mtn Club. There is no mention of it on the Stratton website to add to a season/ikon pass. Stratton still offers "First Tracks" to season/ikon passholders - 7:45am start on weekends and holidays for $599. Stratton's regular opening is at 8:30am.

I don't know if this is new at other Alterra resorts or not, but I see several other resorts offering a similar "reserve" pass as an upgrade/add-on. Sugarbush is the most expensive of them all:

Snow Valley, Snow Summit, Bear Mountain - $1299
Crystal - $1499
Snowshoe - $1499
Solitude - $699
Winter Park - $999

Sugarbush seems to give the least amount of extra access vs any of the others as all the others seem to give priority access to multiple lifts. Some include VIP parking. Some include early-ups. Sugarbush is priority access at one single lift.
