North is open for the season!
GMX, Northridge and Summit are on hold due to icing!
HG was also delayed for icing, with the weather yesterday rain to freezing you would think someone in management team would tell the lift mechanics to come In early as there is a high likelihood of icing.
Just a little bit of planing not reacting, SB continues with the PPPPPP model.

Hah...I literally had the same thought when I noticed them grooming that last night! I guess they wanted something groomed on the VH side. Honestly SF wasn't too terrible this morning, but other trails were better. I'm surprised how much natural they reopened. Also surprised how much less we lost in terms of base compared to what I expected.
Paradise was surprisingly decent. Even the woods were decent in spots. Would go from total sketch to powder pockets to sketch. Daughter made me do it. SF was a skating rink in the afternoon, my daughter tried out her new FIS Atomic SL skis and they just ate it up. I was like an elephant on roller blades on the Blaze 94’s.

Maybe they figure the only people hard core enough to complain about missing out on freshly glazed ski trails are on Alpinezone and Reddit, so they don't want to annoy there employees over this. And it isn't even the entire mountain. Is it even causing a line?

This is a silly comment. Were you here? Conditions were actually much better than anticipated.

Sorry but what is the 'PPPPPP' model?

Ah, thanks. No not sure how the icing thing relates? They did not prepare so seems like they are not following the model... In any case, glad they got it all cleared and lifts ran

It appears the shift from complaining about snowmaking to complaining about the lifts. If you got to north for the coveted first chair, you had to wait. If you understood the weather, it's effects, and the staffing model, 10 am was the sweet spot. Fresh tracks on Black Diamond, FIS, Bravo and Exterm were good. I was surprised the natural trails above mid were skiing so well. Dow low... meh. I was somewhat surprised of the lack of crowds. Not sure what south was like. All in all, good day on the hill.

Exterm is remarkable how it can recover and be good. Wind direction helps; it gets so much packed in over the ridge. Love the lower rolling part below the cutback trail to Glen House and above North Star that often gets windblown.

Daylight has a lot to do with it. Even with lights, it's hard to see all that's needed in the dark. Safety is another aspect. 630am is their usual start time. Before that is not really productive.

All lifts at north on maintenance hold. It would be nice if they gave the actual reason - power surge, staffing, whatever. At least Inverness is open and they can claim every trail is open despite lack of lift access

Is there any way to get live lift status any longer? The Ikon app does not have it and never sure if the website is being updated frequently.
That said, it is blowing powerful gusts at our place at 1000' and rattling the windows.

Update, I see Bravo is running on the webcam but still marked as Windhold.

Really windy out there today...was going to go to ME, but saw GMX not running and stayed at LP instead. I had 5 laps in on a combo of Bravo and HG before Bravo went on hold. Did a couple runs on VH then went back up to HG which was still running. Actually felt calmer on HG ~10AM then it did at 8AM. Maybe wind shifted direction a bit. Bravo was really rocking my last ride on it before it went on hold, so not surprised it went on hold. With the way the wind was howling when I went to bed. I was honestly expecting to not see much running at all this morning, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Heard one of the ambassadors say they heard there was a power issue at ME. Certainly possible especially given the wind.

I like being on the hill at 8am, so delays screw my normal routine up. I stayed at South yesterday as I was honestly not expecting much conditions wise given Friday's weather so wasn't sure ME would be worth it (then throw in the icing delay on GMX and that further pushed me to stay at LP). Not crowded at all at LP yesterday and I think every run I took was virtually ski onto the lifts. Maybe Friday's weather made some people decide to stay home. More cars in my condo lot today than there were yesterday, but still empty compared to a normal winter weekend. In retrospective, it does sound like I missed a good opening day at ME.

I find the website is sometimes updated timely, but not always. Webcams seem to be the absolute best way to know. And if you were using the Sugarbush app previously, then that should be no different than looking at the snow report on the website as they both pulled the info from the same source and should have always been in sync from what I saw previously.

I saw the weather and the wind and stayed home. I can't remember when I have done that last. Must be getting old. LOL I don't regret it. Mountain biked two days with temps in the 40's with a good group. I have to say I am smoked after riding hard at Harold Parker and Georgetown. Not going to head back up until after Christmas. Looking forward to the Grift on New Years Eve a the Gatehouse.
