It's usually something to do with the sheave train - probably a worn out bushing or something. In less cold weather it's a bunch of work, so I can see why it's talking longer. But it shouldn't have taken them this long to tell us that.
Hell, they could have made a whole blog post out of it!
I just laugh at the "scheduled" part. Similar to the "refill" snowmaking on Sunrise. Spin instead of honesty is still not being honest.

Anyway, GMX is scheduled to run. Let's hope all goes well for the sake of the passengers. Seeing the video of the evac at Dartmouth made my toes hurt...had to have been brutally cold for the folks who were stranded

Skiing was really cold yesterday. It was -12 yesterday at the top of Castlerock. We only lasted a coupe of runs. Reports on Sunrise were some wet guns but not all bad. At least it shows the pipe was fixed. I agree they should have run VH as the Bravo was freezing with the wind.

Finally made it to Warren. Unfortunately watching idle lifts at Ellen on the web cam. Our hosts not too surprised based on season long issues. Pretty poor performance.

IDK, you would think something like the GMX issue(s) would be found in pre-season inspections and testing? Sounds like VT car inspections are more invasive and thorough ;)

But you can get to Summit by hiking Northway, according to the report. Sounds like a ton of fun in these temps. Maybe a couple of snowmobiles running laps with a tow rope would help.

How is there a tower alignment issue many years after opening, let alone mid-season? Is there a landslide?

Doesn't really work like that. The entire sheave train can move on or out to account for tower alignment imperfections, or a bushing could be bad, or a bearing on a wheel itself. When a new lift is installed the alignment is a very time consuming excercise. These things happen.

Glad I stayed at Lincoln. Was pretty empty the 1st 1.5 hours. Then people finally started to show up. I had 2 runs in at Castlerock before there was much of any line over there. Cold this morning, but overall a good day out there.

I recently went to the GML for a beer or two. I ordered some buffalo wings, they were served with one single napkin. There were no other napkins in anywhere sight. Just a ridiculous humiliation ritual disguised as a meal.

I left the GML resolved to never again give Alterra my money.

Way to go Sugarbush, you saved a nickle.

So this actually worked out given the cold temps and slow motion of some participants. After seeing NRX loading we headed out and by the time we got to base GMX was running. So we did the 12-4 shift, but since lifts not running all morning, it skied like 9:30am. And with no lift lines, we got in a good amount of arctic skiing.

The Detonators at GML were fantastic!

All that said, Sugarbush needs to get their lift act together.
