In my experience, unless you have a conversation about base and side angles with the person who's doing the tune, a generic "tune" by pretty much any shop kills the ski. They set the machine to a side angle that wont make the ski hooky (ie dangerous for novices) at the expense of ability to engage the edge on ice. And they just run'em all through...
