Hi Everyone:

I'm the marketing director at Cranmore and I can speak to some of the changes to the Threedom Pass.

The expansion at Loon is a $10 million investment so to StomachDoc's point ... the new pass line up was a way to acknowledge that expansion while giving Waterville and Cranmore skiers a continued good value with the Limited Edition pass.

Renewing passholders get $50 if they buy early so when you back out that cost, it's not **that** bad. The Anytime pass, which is the only pass with no blackouts at Loon, is the one that has seen the most increase.

I will encourage you all, if you are going to buy the pass, to do it by 5/31 as all the pass prices go up $50 more at that point and the renewal discount goes away. And the "Value" pass (the reborn Sun-Fri. pass) will not be offered past Nov. 30th.

Hope this information is helpful. I'm new to posting here - looks like a great forum!

I figured it was because of the expansion. Saw em cutting the new lift line on Thurs on my drive home from school over the Kanc.

When I had the threedom 2 seasons ago I always ended up at Waterville anyways so Id just spring for that cheaper option, Loon has to be one of the most crowded and condo filled places Ive ever seen. Cranmore doesnt offer much, but is a nice addition.

The value of a season pass..............

There are other ways to look at the season pass then from "a break even point of view". Season passes allow you to go ski early, as well as late and not concern yourself with ticket price. They also promote a great deal of skiing. With a pass, you are more likely to "look" at your schedule and find time to ski, where as without the pass you'll constantly be asking "is the ticket worth the money". Season passes also make it much easier to "blow of Friday at work" or take a Monday. The mid week skiing you will get in (those Fridays and Mondays) will give you crowd free skiing, and for Monday's you can usually get a full day in in half the time, and still make it home in good shape. Passes promote 3 day weekends and that always feels like a lot more skiing than 2 (psychologically), as well as giving you something to look forward to and plan for.

This season, if I looked at it from the break even point, I'd be hosed. The late start, combined with a lot of work travel, has meant I have actually only skied my pass 11 days (I been skiing a lot more, just not where my pass is). I should be able to grab a bunch of days over the next couple weeks, but I never really look at the pass that way. It's the price of admission for the addiction, and having a pass "let's me ski whenever, without looking at tickets as part of the price.

Season passes also often give you discounts at other areas, making it worth driving there for some turns. For instance, Jay, amongst others gives season pass holders from any area a 38$ ticket. That in itself is a great deal and will typically have most thinking and watching the storms to see if they can get to Jay for a big dumper.

Finally, there is another way to get a "season pass", just ask JD. Buy yourself a pr of Fritschi freerides and some skins, and then you can go hammer anywhere anytime. Earn your turns and the price is always right.

Hope it's a good ski day for you, with the time difference here in Europe (another work trip), it's 7:11 am and I need to get ready for breakfast 'cus the lifts spin in a little over an hour in Alta Badia Italy. Make some turns today, it ought to be pretty good in the east!!
