For those of you with ski-houses, you'll probably get a pass at your mtn....

For the rest of us who tend to day-trip, or just head up for a few days at a time -- what season pass are you considering for next year? whats the best value? are there any passes that offer some variety in northern vermont? Ideally for me, if I go enough.. the price of the pass is roughly half-priced lift tickets each day.....

I'll probably end up with the silver New England pass again(Loon, SR, Loaf), but would like to consider any other good options before taking the plunge.....

I'm seriously considering getting the 'Noreaster next year. It'll give me two options near my home (Jack Frost and Big Boulder), a major resort within a day trip (Mount Snow), and two options near my parent's house in NH (Crotched and Attitash) which serves as my New England base whenever I drive north.

It's hard to swallow the price, and it's nice to have flexibility to buy tickets wherever the snow is good, however it's frustrating because you must buy Liftopia in advance, and are then stuck going that day regardless of conditions. I think it'll give me more flexibility on random weekends after storms, and definitely on holiday weekends, which is when I would mostly be going up to NH.

I just sent out my application and payment a few days ago for a pass for my son and I at Hidden Valley. Originally weekends and holidays were going to be members only next year but I guess they aren't selling enough memberships so now they are selling 1000 each junior and adult unlimited passes. So I pulled the trigger on a junior pass for my son and an adult pass for me so we can ski any days there.

If you get the Nor'easter one thing that you can be certain of is no matter which of the Peak Resorts you use it at, they will have pumped out some serious amount of snow.

I picked mine and my wife's up last Saturday (a nice medium blue trim on the '09/'10 pass ;)) - got it last Saturday as opposed to waiting until the June 1st deadline(I've got a valid '08-'09 Nor'easter) so that I can max out my rewards on my GM Card before either GM goes bankrupt and/or HSBC Bank goes bankrupt

im still up in the air. i have a chance to get a 4 bedroom house in jamacia by stratton for a steal so i may get a black out pass there and my MC pass. plus having a house there gives me a good jumping off point for NVT and its only 4 hours from my house. i would love to get a place by stowe. but its a tough sell to my friends. i can sell them on stratton then i only have a 2:45 drive to stowe.

Leaning towards Ragged if it's priced at $299 again. Cannon NH resident deal at $475 is tempting, Silver Boyne pass at $600 is tempting.

My lift ticket budget is essentially $600-$700.

The Silver Boyne pass would mean outside of maybe a couple of days, I'd be skiing at just Loon, SR and SL. SL I'd only do for an overnight from where I live, SR is kind of pushing my day trip threshold at 2:45 from here, which means I'd primarily be skiing Loon, which is 1:40 from home. I'm a weekend skier, Loon is a very crowded place on weekends. So, probably not this.

Cannon at $475 would allow for a handful of days at other mountains within my budget and at 1:50 minutes is a decent day trip. Even when crowded, it's not too bad there outside of the lodges from my experience. I really love the mountain, though whether it has a killer snow year for a third year in a row remains to be seen.

Ragged at $299 would allow for a good 10 -12 days at other mountain within my budget and is only 1:35 minutes from home; a very painless day trip. It isn't crowded at all on weekends, has a high speed lift, some very good glade skiing when open and the laid back vibe I like. It will be essentially like Tenney was for me this year; the uncrowded, inexpensive Saturday option only better because of the high speed lift.

Unless the price on the Ragged pass shoots up dramatically, I think I will buy there.

I have a family ski house in Conway, but find it cheaper to find deals like I've done this year - Wildcat Wildcard, VT travel club card, etc. - for the sake of variety and the option of day trips.

That being said, I might still consider the NE pass in that SR is an hour's drive from the house, and it still affords the option to hit Loon on a daytrip. Then again, the cash involved would limit my trips to Wildcat, Stowe, Bush, etc. The past two seasons, the variety I've enjoyed after years of the ASC pass (not that that variety was all that bad) kind of have me wishy-washy on a pass.

I got all four of us passes at Catamount again next year. It's only 100 miles and 100 minutes from my place. Easy day trip. The price is just so right still for us. My oldest will still be 6 on Turkey day the cut-off so her pass is still just $99. I got another $99 for my 2.5 y.o. and the adult passes for the wife and I are only 259. So for like $720 we can ski every day at Catamount. We'll do some trips to Vt. and I'll try and get some discounted day passes, but the bulk of our skiing is at Catamount. It's just the best deal at this point given my young girls, the drive-time, vertical, crowds and conditions.

considering a crotched pass (+1 for the wife) and just a ski club membership. Not going to get the value out of the K blackout pass I bought this year :(
