I say they're worthwhile. They generate a lot of discussion in the off-season and are generally fun/informative. Some good suggestions have been nominated already.

....also perhaps include challenges for the various ski area association representatives for each state. I would love to hear their thoughts on how they intend to promote and try and grow the sport in wake of the transportation challenges facing skiers now with fuel prices.

I would like to see a 2008 AZ Ski Area Challenge. A couple of places to ask questions of in addition to what has been suggested Magic, Berkshire East and Stratton.

I am curious if Stratton's free on-line lift ticket deal is successful in their view and why. I am curious why Mt Snow and Killington have stopped being part of the CT Ski Council bulk ticket program and places like Sugarbush, Okemo and Stratton still participate.

We could not get Stowe on board a few years back. We can get the usual suspects (Sunday River, Sugarloaf, Sugarbush, MRG, Jay, etc) and I imagine that Ragged would come on since Mr. Fries did our challenge two years ago when he was running Bolton.

Due to the huge fan base here on AZ, I think Sundown would be a good one as usual. I think we could generate some interesting questions based on past/future events, Powder Ridge (I think that is the name), and any short/long term plan for upgrades/expansions.

I was actually reading last years Magic challenge recently. Very little of what was covered actually happened (snowmaking, green line lift). I'd be interested to see what's in the works for next season.

Plenty of votes for a challenge.....not so many against.

Anyone have a viable reason not to try it again other than Greg's free time being spent making the effort?

Deadheadskier had a good point re: what resorts intend to do with regard to the pending impact of transportation costs. Ragged used to (and may still) offer "carload" days.

And Cannon's feedback after a year of successful new mgt would be interesting as would Tenney with plans to re-open next season.

Also liked Oldsnowboader's thoughts on getting asked for input by the participants. Getting more resort reps playing in hear (e.g., W Smith of the Bush) keeps things interesting.

I vote YES on the challenge.

The one thing I will say...as the guy who has helped run it for the past few years...is that while there is enthusiasm now (which is great) last year and the year before there were [insert crickets] during some of the actual challenges or people asking the same questions every year. If we can get you all to participate, and get some good questions, I think it would be worthwhile.

I have some question about one of my local hills, Catamount.
