4FRNT skis?

Thoughts/experience with them?

I came very close on Sunday to picking up as set of 4FRNT MSP for a wider east coast board. They were on Steep and Cheap for $200, which seemed like a killer deal and I've read some good things, but wanted to hear other thoughts.

Was thinking of getting them and mounting some Barons on them. I swore I was going to sit idle on my ski purchases until 2010-11, but man were there times last winter that I felt like I could use something in the mid 90's in about a 180.

Their skis are being made by Elan...the product quality and finish is much better than when the were being made in Tunisia. Its a cool company, completely run by guys who ski as much as possible and love what they do. Matt Sterbenz is a good guy, funny, sarcastic, and a ripping skier...he and a partner started the business together. The MSP is the Matt Sterbenz Pro model...solid ski, wood core, stable, etc. Steele Spence is the other named athlete working in house. They've got a skate ramp right in their warehouse in SLC...Alta is their test lab.

I'm just finishing up with my second pair which actually happen to be the MSP. They are an excellent all around ski that seem to have no real weak spot (for me anyway). I also own a Wateau 101 which also are excellent but still ski the 4frnts 80% of the time meaning I really don't need the Fischers even though they are a great ski.

I will also say I have beat the living fack out of these skis (near 200 days on them now) and they still ski great. The camber is now almost flat meaning they are even better in pow. I hope they are still making the bomber product they were a couple years ago. I have never owned a ski that took punishment so well and still performed. The STL model was a pretty fun model back east also.


I will buy again if I don't end up expirementing with these 333 skis.....

Was very tempted by the 4Frnt's, but ended up going with a set of High Society FR, which seems quite similar to the MSP in terms of what they're designed to do.

When I beat my Rossi BX's into the ground, I might give 333 a shot in manufacturing something in the same dimensions as I find the BX to be the perfect size for skiing mainly bumps, but also having a bit of carving capabilities and just wide enough to push corn around better than a standard bump ski.
