I'm definitely weird no doubt, but i loved what i did and really enjoyed teaching and ultimately being a university administrator .

Skiing is a passion too and my analysis of skiing is there is no such thing as a bad day of skiing -----

JUST SOME BETTER THAN OTHERS

if you can honestly say that your absolute worst day of skiing was better than your absolute best day at work, then either you're not skiing enough or you need a new job....

If I'm skiing, I'm not thinking about work.
If I'm working, I'm thinking about skiing.

or said differently,
If I'm working, I'm looking out the window.
If I'm skiing, I'm not looking in the window.

I think about skiing at work and sometimes I think about work when I'm skiing..especially if I was just working 45 minutes earlier. One thing I don't get is why people even buy a lift ticket if it's a day when all but the bunny hill lift is on windhold with high winds all day..in that situation I'd hope for a backup plan but for people staying at the resort..driving to another area that is more wind sheltered isn't always an option.

Two seasons ago at Jackson Hole there was a major blizzard which shut down all the lifts about 45 minutes after opening..I was only on my 3rd lift-ride when the front came through..Then several hundred people waited in line to get vouchers which could also be used only any other resort services..after lunch, I took the bus to Snow King and bought a 2 hour ticket there..and skied back into town on snowcovered streets..you can always make lemonade out of lemons..

I like work. I like it a lot maybe 50% of the time.

(This year may be an exception...struggling to stay profitable DEFINITELY cut into skiing.)

Some of my best days of work have come since we ran underground cable for electric and internet at our cabin near Gore. I can work from 2pm until about 8...after skiing in the morning.

And...I'm a weather nut...my goal in following the weather is to cut down on bad days of skiing due to weather/conditions.
