You can pay an extra $20-$30 for AAA Plus which will increase the tow miles to something like 250.... We broke down near The Loaf and got it towed all the way back to Boston.

AAA even covers you if you are NOT the driver. All you need is to be is IN a car that breaks down.
Well worth every penny !!

That's what I have now, the plus. Total no brainer. Do I want to have my car towed to some shop up in Lake Placid, East Burke or Littleton. Helllll no.

I already used one of the free tows this year because my clutch fork gave out suddenly over the summer, leaving the car stranded in my driveway.

Even if I had a brand new Toyota 4Runner or some notoriously reliable vehicle I'd still do AAA if you drive to remote areas at times you don't want to get stuck there.

AAA - just works - premium membership with 4 cars and 3 drivers covered for 100 mile tow - used twice in past 5 years w couple of the older cars in VT - 120 mile tow ( with a ride in the cab) plus tip only cost me $45. Avoiding RMV in MA is a godsend as well.

We have my 16 yr old daughter inlcuded - and if they lobby against more $$ for public transport - I'm with them - ( just can't see subsidizing poor service and super-high-cost labor, plus inefficient train schedules - I live in MA.

Same reason I wouldnt give a dime to AARP or the Chamber of Commerce.

Used to have ALA when I just started skiing - they were cheaper but of course not as reliable. AAA does protect you - no matter what car you are in. Driver gets the same service as you would in your own car.

Had service cut one year - more than 5 calls - and they wouldn't tow my 1974 4x4 Dodge beach Winnebago when it broke down on ol cape cawd. ( see, we talk like the Kennedy's, just don't hold same views)

Who knew?
