Welcome to the world of higher insurance premiums, massive regulatory compliance, and out of control energy prices.

I think it is all relative. I'm sure that back then folks were complaining about high prices as well.

The only reason I learned to ski was that my mom worked at Mt Southington and I got a free pass. Probably should of looked into lesson!

Interestingly, I saw some #s a couple of years ago that insurance runs ~10%, energy ~20% and people costs nearly 50%.

If that was a couple of years ago, I would bet it doesn't look like that now. I just saw an article that said Ohio's electricity prices have gone up 33% in the past 5 years. I am not sure what the number is in VT, but I am sure it is similar (within a few percentage points). Then you have the price for Oil & gas for heating the lodge and other amenities.

Thanks in part to locking into, what are now, very favorable long-term contracts with HydroQuebec, electricity costs in Vermont are actually very low. On the otherhand, the costs of diesel have increased dramatically, so snowmaking plants that operate on diesel and groomers cost a lot more to operate.

Same with me except the number was $25.00.
In college we'd get Killington discounted tickets for $15.00 , and that was the weekend rate. Loging was an additional $15.00-$20.00 including breakfast.

That depends on what your definition of very low is. It is low compared to the rest of New England, but not so much when you look at the rest of the country.
