Yesterday marked the 7th anniversary of my/our good friend JG, a.k.a. “Doc” leaving us for a better place. Doc left us in a freak accident while saving his grandson from being electrocuted. I didn’t know Doc from skiing in fact I don’t think he ever went!!?? Anyway, how I knew Doc was from my golf club. He was the “ring leader” if you will for “our group”. Our group in that day consisted of Doc, Tim “the wall” Buhl, Tour Bob, Mike a.k.a. “Champ” (He’s won our club championship for years), TFA and myself. The most interesting thing about Doc was his friends. What I mean is the man had friends from the age of 7 to 97, he could communicate to anyone on any level and honestly was the most respected, well liked, funniest man you could ever what to meet. I could go on and on but I will save you all the bad grammar and incomplete sentences.
Anyway, before we teed off yesterday (Tour Bob, Champ, The Wall and me) we went down to “Doc’s Pond” and planted flowers, dumped some beer into the pond as if to say thanks to Doc for all the good memories. That in itself was emotional. On the 17th hole with Doc’s pond and fresh flowers in sight Champ had a hole in one. Normally when some one ace’s a hole it’s immediate chaos, yelling, screaming, high five’s and such. This was different. We all (4 grown men) turned to each other with smiles, tears in our eyes and hugged each other followed by more tears and laughter. What an emotional Tuesday it was.
That’s my quick story of my friend “Doc”. I wish Doc fairways and greens at his new “Club”. RIP
Not sure why I felt compelled to share this, but I hope you all realize how short life is and let the people in your life know how much you love them.
