Trip Report:
At it again Monday night. Always great to get out on a Monday! I showed up early in hopes of hitting Hurricane but alas it was already closed, as were Twister and FIS. Headed over to the triple just as Ga2ski and Scott showed up. Conditions were good, a little bumped up snow left from Sunday brought some variety to these fast becoming familiar trails. Headed back to the lodge after a couple runs and met up with Chile for a few more. The usual line up at the top for sign up, tree_skier & Charlie were first in line. A bit colder than it has been but still perfectly comfortable, I'm guessing somewhere in the mid to upper twenties.

The race took place on FIS. The course wasn't too difficult and Pat's groomers did a nice job. Pairs were Chile & Charlie, Bob R & tree_skier, Ga2ski & Scott. I paired up with another solo racer. It's a blast watching our two best racers going head to head and they didn't dissapoint. Tree_skier placed 8th overall and Bob 13th, earning us 8.31 and 7.78 points respectively. Scott has consistently improved each week and now appears on the first page of the results, good for 22nd overall and 6.31 points. I guess he got a little to aggressive on the second run and forgot about the first gate… Ga2 was finally bested by the other Teleskier in the overall standings but as always skied very solid and earned us a valuable 7.45 points. Chile and Charlie also gave us great results - I think this may have been Chile's best yet - he got us 3.84 pts (and skied exactly the same time as my best run on the night!). Even though we didn't use it, Charlie put up a respectable 3.40 points. I don't think I've seen him come across the finish without a big sh*t eating grin yet, he's always having a blast on the slopes! I had a minor breakthrough, feeling much more comfortable and earning my first bronze. Overall we finished 4th on the night which kept us solidly in 3rd place. Apres as always was a good time. Saw the Olympic crashes, some news report on porn that got everyone's attention, and the video of the race (with another good crash - a boarder hitting the gate, going over on his back and head, colliding with the skier racing with him, ending with the skier getting spun around and going down on his back down the hill). I got smoked in the eating contest but did well with the giveaways getting a boarders cap (which we gave to the waitress after she expressed interest - hope she's there next week) and couple Sierra Nevada hats with free passes. Score! Good conversation ensued and before we knew it Bob, Charlie & I shut the place down again.

Next week will be tough as Bob and Chile will be out. The top 5 scores are counted towards the team total so with just 5 racers eveyone's time will count. Hopefully I can continue to improve and put more than 1.00 on the board.

Another great report! Hurricane usually closes at 4pm as does Tornado. I personally enjoyed my constitutional down Vortex, then over to the Peak Double Liftline and down Hurricane into the trees when there was snow. Short, but fun.

Musta been that big red full moon last night that made everybody ski fast. All the racers seemed to be having a good time last nite. A much easier course this week than the past couple of weeks, and there were lots of times under 20 seconds. The pacesetter ran a ridiculous 17.55 seconds on the green course. The snow held up well, and Charlie, Roark, Scott and I definitely had our best night of the season. Tree_skier, Bob and ga2ski were just their usual outstanding selves.

See you guys in 2 weeks - go fast next week, boys.....

Forgot to mention in the report tree_skier was pretty sick and really stepped up to produce his usual top 10 finish.

Great job guys. I'll try to do better next week.

After the race Scott and took a couple fun runs before meeting the crew in the bar as the course was such a blast. Scott even took a fun run on his tele gear and has a better appreciation of racing with a freeheel. Sorry just bring his ego in check after his awesome finish last night.

I came in second in the cookie eating contest. How could i go wrong . . . I got half of a "famous" Pat's Peak M&M cookie and a free T-shirt.

Oh yeah don't tell DMC but i won a knockledragger coaster . . .. at least I don't know what else to do with the snowboarding DVD that I won in the raffle.
