Tree_Skier Powers AZ Team into 3rd Position: Finals Eyed

Henniker, NH (AZP) - Propelled by a 3rd place overall finish by Tree_Skier, the AlpineZone race team jumped into clear posession of 3rd place in the standings of the Monday night adult/corporate race league at Pat's Peak. Team AZ had its best night of the season, scoring a new high in team points for the night, and placing 4 racers in the top 30.

Despite conditions which included dense fog, freezing drizzle and soft snow, Tree_Skier completed 2 runs under 21 seconds each, finishing 3rd out of 89 racers, which was good for a new high of 8.73 individual points. Bob R had another fast, consistent night, placing 16th. Scott B was the night's biggest surprise, with 2 silver medal runs earning him 23rd place. ga2ski, battling a bad cold and equipment problems at the start (where the !#@!$%$$#! is that pole????) was once again the fastest telemark skier. Roark had his best results, and his first run of 25.13 just missed a bronze medal. Charlie and I battled the elements, and although I was able to post a time in the first run, the usual big ruts in the second run put me on my back, so my second time was terrible. Charlie and I are going to hit up Tree_Skier for some racing lessons.

Results are here - http://www.patspeak.com/adult_cor_race_re.htm

The snow itself actually wasn't that bad, though. It was soft, there was lots of groomed man-made, and you could set an edge almost anywhere. But the fog limited visibility and goggles were useless in the freezing drizzle. Did a few fun runs with Charlie after the race, but it was hard to see so we headed into the bar for some well-deserved beers.

The top 5 teams (from each night??) make the finals in March, and we are hoping to get there. With the team moving up in the standings, we might even do well. Just getting to the finals in our first year will be quite an accomplishment, so we're going for it. Lots of fun, great times. Come join us some Monday - !!!!

Guys- sorry to bail last night after the race especially since we had such great results . . . a beer would have been warranted, hopefully you had one for Scott and me. I'm feeling a little better, I think i'm just run down and need some good sleep.

Our consistenty of showing up, finishing and improving might just land us in the finals.

Tree-skier had some great runs. I am most impressed with Scott who i harrased into joining the team to begin with. He has really started to figure things out.

Keep up the good work and I'll see you all next week.

We had a great team night in some very nasty conditions. It was amazing that there wasn't more crashes with the soft snow, death cookies and strange ruts.

Very happy with my results, only 4/10 out of first

My highlights are always the humous ones. I looked into the gate and their is ga2ski sprawled out under a safety gate ,looking well... like he needed medical assistance. Truth be his pole went on the run by itslef... With a crane snow cats and other heavy machinery his equiptment was retrieved.

His runs were again fast. Ga2ski again posted the 2nd most points for our team and had been real consistant. Scott what a jump. I saw his run and it looked good. The proof was in the results.
Tree_skier had a top 5 goal last night and he nailed it. I caught part of Charlie's run and the top portion on Roark's 2nd run. All looked fine.
Chile brought in a good point score, bad luck would take away his 2nd run. I looked up and saw his face and new it did not go well.

Visablity was hard for me (well everyone) the ruts were rough as well. I had to bail early last night, but vibes were very good with the positive sesults.
BTW my Co workers baby was born am today. Glad it fit into my ski schedule.

Each week each member of the team is posting better times, this past week I skied two bronze runs... I plan to continue building each week, having a blast doing it and there will be a night where my times will contribute points to the team... :D

Thanks BobR for putting it together! :D

Charlie it might be Feb 20th. More details to come. I was aksed/told to go to Dallas for the week at 5pm last night.
My boss said I know you race, but. I said I'm glad to be employed. Working on it. Scores don't matter its getting together that does.

Is there ever a good time to be in Dallas?

I feel for you BobR...I have to go away for most of next week. I volunteered so that I would have a "guarantee" that I wouldn't have to travel during Feb. vacation week.

Problem is its changes my ski plans/team involement, plus my vacation plans and money I pre spent. I have to get extra day care also. I loose Monday and thursday I had off.

Again glad to have a job and I understand my responsibilites. They were letting me out work early every monday to race so its not like they don't care. Just sucks. No hard feelings.
