I bought a house in NH near the border. The regional newspaper is always filled with VT crime stories, much more crime in VT than on the NH side of the border. COVID and the ensuing demographic shift has taken it's toll on VT. VT now seems like a socialist shithole.

If you don't ski or aren't into nature, Vermont sucks. High cost of living, miserable climate, limited opportunities for a better life. It's been like that for decades. Once the heroin and meth dealers figured out they had a huuuuge market in Rutland (a la...Rutvegas)... beyond your typical "small town" drug dealer vibes... the OD deaths weren't gonna stop.

How this thread has morphed into what it is now, is kind of disturbing.

What started out as a thread about a ski family, who is known by many in the ski forum community and the sudden loss of their 20 something daughter likely due to fentanyl laced pot, has now become a pro pot in various forms thread.

Maybe what this thread is about now should be continued in the "legalize it already" thread in the miscellaneous topics forums?

The title of the thread on kzone was fentanyl laced pot. It was not started by ty or dork, but ty commented about her daughter and how they believe fentanyl was involved with her overdose. Kinda disrespectful they way people are bickering like children here, RIP to the snow princess.

I re-read the thread on K-Zone and interpreted the 2nd post by Ty the same way you did originally, although I can also see how it is a bit unclear what the marijuana reference from Ty was specifically referring to.

Those who use pot either sees it as indication pot would be safer legalized. (or they didn't see the part about laced in pot in the initial post)

Those who don't use pot read what's there and not much more.

Those who know the family get the point of DrJeff's first post. Some of those who don't know the family may choose to bicker over party politics. They're not being disrespectful. They don't know the family. It's just another stranger, another statistic.

What a nightmare scenario for any parent to go through.

I had the drug talk with the nephews as they are incapable of listening to their parents. I took the realistic approach as I'm quite sure they'll find their way into things. It basically went like this:

Don't do drugs people go to rehab for

Don't mess with nicotine. If you pick up a vaporizer for whatever dumb reason at least get the zero nicotine juice.

Respect whatever drug you're taking whether it be from a doctor or the street and know it will fuck with your ability to do things proper ie drive/work/study

If a drug makes you feel complete run

Keep booze moderate and infrequent. Odds are this is the one that will create problems.

If you drop acid it's not a.bad idea to order a test and test it. Start very small.

Don't buy drugs from shitty people.
