All-out snowmaking assault, top to bottom, on Wanatuska and Onteora - never saw anything like it at Belleayre in last 20 years - reminded me of Hunter when they crank during the first cold spell every year in December. Easily one to two feet of fresh man-made pow-pow on all of W & O. Awesome bumps on upper O and the course on lower W was incredible - zero lift lines all day - had just enough left in my legs to walk to the car!!

I went to Plattekill today and Blockbuster was great, but I wish I could have been at the Bell also. Sounds like an awesome day!

Seriously? I never heard of such snomaking prowess. How many trails were like this?

Pretty sure just 2: Wanatuska and Onteora. Looks like there were some guns going on the lower mountain also

Shhhhhhhhhhhh ! ! ! I don't want any lift lines on the upcoming holiday weekend. We have been quite spoiled this winter.

By the way, the complaints in this thread were all totally falsified by this weekend.

It takes me almost 3 hours to get to hunter from hartford, anyone have a clue how much further bell would be? Looking at mapquest i'm guessing at least another half hour since its south and west of hunter. I usually go 90 to 87 to 23 for hunter.

Unfortunately, I have no pics to provide, but I can echo the comments of the others. I skied Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Belleayre. Friday and Saturday were slightly better than average for 2012. For me, the top of Wanatuska was the main attraction, as it had firm packed powder from snowmaking earlier in the week. I was expecting more of the same on Sunday, but instead was treated to an incredible day.

I thought they might turn off the guns by mid-morning, so I hurried to get my runs in on Wanatuska and Onteora. My legs were aching and the guns kept firing. Who knew they would blow snow ALL day. It was fantastic.

Each time I get up from my desk today, the satisfying ache in my legs reminds me of how much fun I had yeserday.

I was there on Saturday 2-11-12 and found very nice conditions. It had snowed about 2-3" Friday night, so the woods were white. Off and on flurries/snow throughout the day on Sat. First tracks were really sweet. They had knocked down the bumps on Winisook and upper Seneca, so you could really sink the edges in. Also, there was nobody on them!
The biggest surprise was how well upper Wanatuska stayed right until 4- usually it can get skied off in the center, but not on Saturday. It was disappointing to have to stop at 4 o'clock.

I don't know how long it is exactly but Bell is 30 minutes from Kingston exit on I87.

Sunday was the best day of the year for me at Belleayre. No trees of course but that inch of natural that fell during the day made a huge difference. Groomers were prime and bumps were hero status.

First serious snowmaking effort I've seen since December.

Smokey's watchin....always:evil:

Don't speed in Roxbury, cost me $255, and that was after being reduced to a failure to obey traffic device! Yikes!!! Expensive weekend of "free" skiing at Platty. My son gave me a detector for Christmas, great present. I don't speed that often anymore, too expensive, even if you don't get caught, but it's nice to know when they're around.
