I've seen some really good deals posted this winter, but I'm thinking in the spring and summer time is when we would see the best deals. I'm one of those people who hardly checks AZ when the snow melts, can an regulars give me there thoughts on this. Do ski gear deals generally ramp up in the off-season?

In general everything has its cheap season , you may not have the selection but if you look you will find deals in the spring and summer. Having raised two kids [Both out now] you are always looking for deals. Spring + Summer =Jackets, Ski Gear . Dead of Winter good for Bicycles. Dog days good for Furniture + Appliances. Late Fall good for camping equipment. Of course if you are one of those Instant Gratification types none of this will work.

In March it starts amping up, though the next few weeks will probably start bringing some deals for 2009/2010 equipment. It's not hard to follow SAC and Tramdock normally. Sierra Snowboard (& Skis) generally does a nice job discounting equipment by March.

Volume only matters in Rock and Roll ! They will still try to empty out for next years model. A 2 year old model on the floor may as well be 50 yrs old for most buyers.

In my mind, northern New England
End of the season deals typically begin after President's Day. Best deals I ever got on skis and bindings are in July. If the only change is cosmetic (i.e., new topsheet), last year's model is more than good enough. For clothing, unless you have an odd size, the pickings are slim in the off season. In January, time to buy a surfboard.

My experience:
- good deals in the spring, limited selection
- great deals in the late summer/fall, extremely limited selection (odd sizes)

Summer and fall are the best time to pickup last season's demo, if you bottom-feed like me ;)
They go on sale in the spring, but get price reduced by the fall .
