I want to take my girlfriend for a weekend ski trip but am not sure where to go. We are both pretty low maintenance and we would prefer cozy to fancy. We would also like to stay within 4 hours of Boston. Thanks!

I stayed at the Vermont Inn with my Ex-wife a few years ago. We had a suite with a fireplace and a 2 person jacuzzi in our room. They had a great restaurant and bar too. It's about 5 minutes from Killington and about 3 minutes from Pico. Prices weren't too bad from what I remember.

I hear Powder Ridge has some super deals going on.

Oh you want something real? Pat's Peak, Crotched, Ragged, Gunstock, Waterville. All real close.

If you'd like a bit of challenge skip Loon and head to Cannon.

If you're really undecided, then just find a nice B&B near North Conway and wing it. Then depending on ambition/ skill / conditions, you can hit Cranmore, Attitash, Black, Wildcat, or even Bretton Woods.

has anyone had luck with using airbnb to get a place before near a resort?

I would second how important is the skiing on your trip vs. the hanging with the GF. That might make a difference in decision making :)

Both VT and NH have a lot of great B&B's. Definitely a cozier option than a condo or resort hotel. The place I mentioned above is an old farm house that was converted. We had a great time.

A trip the with GF is always tricky, if she is new to it I would say North Conway, plenty of mountains, plenty to do in less than great conditions and is very affordable if you search around. I just got back from a week trip with mine and we hit Smuggs, Jay, and Sugarbush. Have found some great B&Bs that are $40-$70 cheaper through expedia, hotels.com, etc. than booking through the B&B themselves.

Yes but the Pocono's would be a bit further than 4hrs. though.

Beautiful Mont Airy Lodge or is that Mountain Airy?

So 4 hour and 20 minutes from Boston to Poconos. I am 3 hours west of Boston and about 1 hour and 20 minutes for me to get to the Casino in Pocono Down and they just build new hotel their.

I think it is Mount Airy.

Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge was the jingle in the commercial. I hope it's been updated since then those commercials are over twenty years old lol
