So, what are the best/worst of the new summer movies. I would use this list for movie rentals this winter as the wife and I don't get to see many over the summer season.

We did see Broken Flowers 2 nights ago...what a waste of 2 hours and 15 bucks. I love Bill Murray but this makes 2 bad movies in a row.

I wanted to see March of the Penguins, anything with blood or maiming is not an option, she always wants the romantic movie. Luckily I can go to see good movies with my 17 yr son. War of the Worlds was awesome.

The only movies I get to go see are the ones I take my little girl to. We both really enjoyed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Much more true to the book.

this was a terrible summer for movies. granted, the major movie studios have been making homogenized stupidness for a few years now, but they hit new lows this year. even independant film didn't have much to catch my eye. i stuck to DVDs for the most part this summer.

for the two movies i did see during the summer, batman begins was impressive. best since the original and redemption for forever and returns which i didn't even see based on stupid looking previews. and of course, star wars iii which was satisfying as the best of the new movies but still a let down considering what it should have been.

broken flowers is a Jim Jarmusch who also did coffee and cigarettes which also had bill murray in a role. that was perhaps the all time worst waste of a DVD rental ever (no exageration either). completely pointless and not even remotely funny, i stopped the DVD as the fourth scene begin about 15-20 minutes into it. just aweful. never plan on seeing another movie by Jim Jarmusch and not surprised you thought broken flowers was aweful despite bill murray's presence. his previous movie about life aquatic or what ever was the same director as the royal tenenbuams which was perhaps the second worst waste of time of a movie. i didn't stop that one, but i did end up falling asleep. for some reason, the great actors after having "made it" and done their best movie ever (in murray's case, lost in translation), know they can't get any better and try to go all artsy on us. i love indie film, but artsy for artsy and creative for creativities sake do not make good movies, next!

March of the Penguins looks interesting. morgan freeman voice over, woot. anything with morgan freeman associated with it is worth watching.

March of the Penguins

I took the kids (4,6,8 ) to see March of the Penguins on Monday night - 6PM show. Theatre was nearly empty (gotta love Monday night showings). They all loved it. 4YO thought it was a bit long, 8YO was saddened by some of the scenes of lost eggs, and frozen chicks. Still, they were all captivated by it.

I'm trying to support G-rated kids movies when they come out to encourage more of them.

Great movie for me was 'Wedding Crashers.' I've heard not-so-great reviews of Dukes of Hazzard. As for Batman, hate the series so I have not gone.

Biggest surprise: Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Funny film.

Only movie I went to see was Fantastic 4. I enjoyed it, just cause Michael Chiklis is da bomb. However, I would have preferred to see them spend more time actually using thier newfound skills rather than pissing and moaning about them.

Here's to a potential sequel that could be BETTER than the original...
