Did anybody read Cal Rec today? I heard there was a letter to editor about Burke but haven't seen it.

Skiing conditions
at Burke Mt. To the Editor:
I have been skiing at Burke
since we moved to Vermont in
1993. The mountain during that
period has unfortunately gone
through a number of owners, many
with grandiose ideas on how to entice
skiers to come here. But during
the past 21 years one thing that
has never varied is the quality of
skiing that Burke has offered.
It has been said by many that
Burke was one of the best kept secrets
in the east. In the past the
groomed trails have been, in my
opinion, some of the best that I
have skied on. When skiing out
west, when people hear you ski
Burke their response has been, we
know of the mountain and the
great skiing it offers. Well fortunately
the mountain has another
owner, and a hotel is being built on
the assumption that it is the key to
Burke’s long term survival, and we
that love the mountain hope that
comes about.
But and there is always a but the
skiing conditions are now, in my
opinion, some of the poorest in the
east. Word of mouth over the past
two years, has not painted the
mountain as a quality ski area. The
grooming is now below average,
the number of trails offered are
limited, and with all the money
that has been spent on snow making,
which was bantered as a great
coup for the mountain, has not
been utilized. Makes one wonder
what the new owners are thinking
when trying to entice skiers to
come here. With the climate being
what it is, snow making is the
major key to a quality ski experience,
and I don’t see the new owners
grasping the importance of
that. I will continue to ski Burke
but I don’t see the number of skiers
increasing if the owners continue
to follow their current practices of
scrimping on the one element
needed for quality skiing in the
Northeast – manmade snow.

I can't believe Burke had access to Jay's marketing guru http://vimeo.com/116707164 and instead we get iphone videos one step outside the baselodge of flurries and of a car getting stuck on tollroad.
Dishwasher
We have an immediate opening for a highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic individual who will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc. using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also helps ensure that the kitchen areas are maintained as clean, safe, and sanitary facilities. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to take and follow directions efficiently while being able to lift and carry heavy objects. Evening and weekend work required.
Looks like they are still looking to hire nearly everyone. I have never seen a more ridiculous job description for a dishwasher:

That is really funny. I give them points for colorful word smithing. What is the labor market like in the NEK?

"Motivated.....Energetic.....enthusiastic......"
"LET'S WASH THIS $#$% !!!! THIS IS WHERE DIRTY COMES TO DIE......I AM GOING TO WASH THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF THESE THINGS.......PASS ME THAT Q-CHINA !!!!!!"
We'll see how the weekend goes......
That's the one. Why not gear up, get on the hill and try and do something creative that might actually create some stoke.

This is really not a new approach at Burke.
I dont believe I've ever met a "highly motivated" dishwasher, let alone an "enthusiastic" one. I do, however, think I'm starting to have the makings of a delightful sitcom.
