Hey All,

I'm back from opening day at Blue mountain. I pulled into the upper lot around 8:10AM and I was rocking out to some Snoop Dogg. I booted up and saw Atomic Jeff a few cars over. At the ticket check was GahSkier and a few random goobers in front of us in line..Well we were the 4th, 5th, and 6th people to be scanned in and the goobers went to the visit chair which gave three PASRs first tracks down Midway and lower Main Street for 08-09..Serious Stoke!!!

The first few runs the conditions were pretty smooth with a few small cookies but as more and more people showed up..the conditions got rougher with scrapped off areas and cookie piles. At 9:30AM we met up with Hardline and Root. Jersey in the house!!! TP4 also joined us and we saw Dan, Justo, and BMTroublemaker as well..We did some more runs and it got really crowded..the liftline was only a minute or two but it was definitely a shitshow..Some people had to stand in line 30 minutes to buy tickets..I guess they had computer issues or not enough staff. I also saw Rodney and some of his crew..I skied one run through the Come Around park which has lots of features..the only issue is that they're really close together...I hit the mini-booter once and came up about a ski length short..mad Homer Simpson..doh..

By about 10:30AM I was starting to feel like staying longer would have diminishing returns with deteriorating conditions and lots of out of control skiers and riders. Root retired to the bar and I skied one more run with the crew. I skied 13 runs total for 10,400 vert. Then me, AtomicSkier and TP4 went directly to the Blue mountain drive inn!!!. TP4 hit French Toast like Shaun White in the halfpipe..A-Jeff was all about bacon and eggs..and I threw the waitress a curveball with chili and a hot dog with Kraut along with some coffee. I expect the conditions to get better after the snow drys out a little and gets groomed a few times..then instead of death cookies it will be the deep sugar that Blue mountain the true mountain is famous for...mad Sweet and Low...

Props to Blue for opening so early this season...I'll be back at Blue Tuesday or Wednesday afterwork after I return from Stowe...

it was a fun day. we got there around 8:10. root went to get his pass while i waited in line for a ticket. took forever but got on the snow by 45 after. me and root took like a bunch of runs befor we met up with steeze at 9:30. then we bombed a bunch of runs. snow was the consistance of golf balls. then one of the pasr's miss judged his stopping distance and took me out. saw it comming but my neck still hurts from the jolt. will be fun to go back and hang with the crew when the conditions are better. it was great to meet everone.

We got there around 8:15, got in the line to pick up my season pass. By the time I got booted up and Hardline and I got out, the lift ticket line was through the lobby and heading outside down the driveway! Good for Blue! I later heard that when the computer system went down, they just started to issue season pass holder regular lift tickets at no cost.

Good to meet up today. Yeah, by 10:30 it was total death cookies and some other ice cube kinda crap. Hardline and I had 2 beers each in the bar and decided to head on home. As we were leaving, I noticed the ticket window line was still about 20 persons deep.

I'm really thinking about heading back on Sunday morning for a few hours again as my legs desperately need the conditioning. I skied a total of 7 runs and logged 6080 ft of vert. Not bad for November in the Pocono's

It was nice meeting Root and Hardline. Conditions were rough and Blue's ticket office wasn't prepared for the volume of people..I predicted a shitshow and it was...but it's only the beginning and if mother nature cooperates there will be alot more open terrain. There was a four foot deep manmade base on the open terrain..I sort of wish there was double as much open with half the base..but if we get a warmspell they'll survive. Not many ski patrollers out there..I will have to wait until midweek to see if I can get some autographs..I didn't hear one whistle..

Sorry I missed the Blue Mt meet up. I was thinking about hitting Blue later in the day but I figured that I'd rather spend the $$ on a lift ticket when they're open fully. I ended up using the pass and hit Boulder around 4pm to some pretty decent conditions. Pretty cool that Blue was that busy. There's definitely a ton of people itching to ski.

Sounds like Blue is ahead of schedule and is in mid season form with their snow quality. Glad you guys had a great time!
