Looks like you were a natural born pimp, and then you went and got yourself an engineering degree. What a waste of talent...

Two actually, with a third one possibly in the works, but who's counting... and then who knows what... Dr. Moseley? I like the way that sounds.... there may be something to that...

Yeah, I coulda made more money pimpin' wit hoes and tricks, but I decided to serve society instead, like the natural born hero I am.

Yes, spending 50% of your waking hours on a ski forum is already making the world a better place.

From today's press release from kmart

"Removal of disruptive non-skiers from parking lots. It has come to the attention of Killington management that there are an increasing number of individuals who come to the mountain to party in the parking lots and who do not ski. These individuals have been known to be disruptive to other skiers, and particularly to families. In order to protect the children and to discourage these disruptive non-skiers from coming to Killington, all vehicles will be assessed a parking fee of $10/vehicle PLUS $2.50/passenger."

I *DARE* you to go post that at K-Zone. :-D

Visits, yes. But unique skiers, no.

Multipass deals, season passes, etc make up the difference.

good point

When you consider that the nations population has probably grown in the area of 40 to 50 million people since 1990, perhaps more; skiing definitely isn't a growth industry.

Such a shame - there's no better sport on earth, especially for families.

You should rephrase that...especially for wealthy families..lol...skiing is too expensive of a sport for most families..unless someone is working at the ski area or something..in ur society leisure time is mainly spent in front of the TV..sad but true...

That's exactly why the ski visit numbers have gone up, but the individual count has gone down. Better off people are buying season passes/multiday passes, skiing more. I dont recall the exact numbers, but its like the 80k+ a year people are going like 5 visits more then they used to, making up for the miilion or three that used to go 1-4 visits a year.

I definitely believe that..although I'm not an 80K+ person I'm single so it's not apples to apples and I'm not your average 5 time a year skier either. As much as I like to disagree with Snowman..he has a point...when smaller places like Magic and Berkshire East are charging over $50 a day it prices alot of people out. At my local hill, Blue mountain, the weekend all day lift ticket is $49..and rentals are about $25-30...Junior tickets I think are under $40 but still..a family of five spending one day at a "major" PA ski area can run at least a couple hundred..even with packing lunches. I know what working class people get paid after taxes and after the bills are paid..a couple hundred for a day skiing is alot for a family making 50-60k a year. It's equivelant to going to an amusement park or major sporting event but most people only do those sorts of things occasionally and people wo like to ski want to do it whenever possible. It's unfortunate..Blue mountain has a discount night on Sundays when a 4-10PM lift ticket is only $19 and I know they make alot of extra business during a time that would ordinarily be slow..sure the conditions, even with re-grooming aren't going to be as good as early AM but $19 bucks is a bargain and a way for families to ski every week.
