What about Copper?

Don't see too much about that resort/area

What'dya think about that

Oh, and btw, I hear lifts are +80.00...can that be right?

Hell they don't do any snowmaking

I've been buying strangers lift tix with my pass for 45 frequently, It may be 50 something now, I'm not sure. Really don't be shy, maybe offer up some beer or cash in the parking lot and it's soooo easy.

I've only been over to Copper a dozen times or so cause it's hard fro me to drive past LL and winter park but the terrain is maybe the best mix in Summit County. If you stay high on the hill you will always avoid crowding and be skiing some real nice terrain. They offer free snowcat rides to tucker mt., hike from the cat and there is some good stuff. If riding the lower mt. then stick to the Superbee if possible and you can kill it in vertical. Pack a lunch, food is $$$$$! Also if the mt. seems skied off try the retreat, union meadows, far west area, back bowls pretty much face south so the snow junks out fast.

They have a damn impressive snowmaking system and back when things sucked in Nov. Copper actually had decent skiing and the first half-pipe in the country open. they shut it down early when it starts snowing except for the parks.

Keystone had $5 cat.

We were out at Keystone last January and bought a 4 day ticket that let you ski several different mountains (including Breck) - 4 out of 7 days (didn't have to be consecutive). Adult ticket was $213.

Lift tickets are $86ish for a day ticket at the window. If you buy in advance and issue them against a peaks card, you can get a discount, not much. THink I paid $340 for a 5 day.

I just got back from Breck. We skied Vail 2 days, Breck and Copper. All were in excellent condition! The first 2 days we skied (copper/Vail) there was a fresh coating (12”) of champaign pow.

If you are going to ski Copper, you can get buy one get one free passes if you fill your car up with gas at a 66 gas staion. Saves a lot of money since lift tickets are over $80.

If your legs need a day off from skiing I suggest taking a ride out to Steamboat and hitting the natural hot springs. This place is really cool, plus Steamboat is a nice town to chill in.

I will try to post some trip reports and pics later tonight or tomorrow.

I've skiied at Copper for the last four winters, most recently this past January. I think of it as well run mountain with decent snow and an excellent lift system layout. The terrain is such that naturally segregates skiers-all the easiest trails in one area, the blues all bunched in the middle of the mountain, and all the most difficult in another area. The back bowls are decent and they offer free cat skiing in the bowls.

The village is typically Intrawest-sort of contrived.
