Just a really good day today, started out making a record driving time and it got better from there. I pulled into the parking lot at 8:50 and caught the eighth chair up the mountain......hill.....slope. Only the learning area quad was open with a 10' by 500' WROD. It had rained overnight so the snow was clingy my first few runs, couple that with the fact this was my first time out all year I had a nice ballet routine trying to keep my balance because I was determined to use my edges. After the tenth or so run the snow conditions improved immensely as the sow got broken in. I skied for two and a half hours and ended up riding the lift with one of the snowmakers sons. Pretty interesting talking to him, apparently they ended up making snow Wednesday and Thursday nights. After a nice long break for lunch I headed back out around twelve and ran into the only crowd all day. The rush lasted for a half hour before the slope emptied out again, and by rush I mean instead of ski on I had to wait 30 seconds. I skied the next hour attempting to make my own mogul line and ended up with some sort of pre-pre-pre-pre mogul bumps. I called it quit around one. In 3.5 hours I managed to take 105 runs. To cap off a great first day out, rock and roll music started playing as I was walking valiantly away from the lodge, a classic low budget film ending moment, so I put my
face on and departed. There was no way they could have opened the HSQ today but if they crank out the guns, maybe tomorrow, but definitely by the holiday weekend.
