The mountains shifted quickly to spring conditions in the last seven days. Temps were in the mid 30s, and the snow had softened throughout all ski-able trails. You'll really enjoy the day much more if you have freshly waxed skis. Without it you just slammed to a near-halt when you hit wetter snow. The shop at BW was doing all temp machine wax for $5. Took a hit while we ate lunch, it was worth it.
Started with drizzle at the base, then wet snow halfway up. A little bit of everything, hail, snow, light sleet. A bit of sun peeking through the mostly cloudy day. Still needed a winter jacket (at least until the sun came out.)
All the trails (except one)have a phenomenal amount of base, I'm sure it will stick around. The blacks had pretty much been plowed flat and were an easy ski, as good as any blue. Darby's drop was the only trail not worth doing. It has a narrow drop that had entirely lost all it's snow. Boarders went down on their butts. I chose a steep tree-filled drop to avoid the earthen excavation. I think we spent a good five minutes picking our lines.
the glades were skiing mighty fine. No more scratchy stuff on rosebrook. Stickney glades was a blast.
No real lift lines to speak of, even with many schools on holiday/Good Friday.
I heard they are going to push to go until the 14th. Maybe.
End of the season for me. Hanging up the skis and logging off from AZ. Time to prep for summer. It's been a good season. TTFN.
