Bob is checking in whether this is actual base building or just a mouse blowing event.

At this point I have to guess actual snowmaking. Killington has already stated that they will start snowmaking this Sunday if the weather cooperates, so seems BW is determined to beat them.

That operation is a class act either way. Guess what? You can ask them questions and they answer them.

My last day of lift service skiing was there. looks like it might be my 1st day as well. I remember last year we had an outing planned for May there and they registered on our board to tell us ... hey we are going to close early. Well really a bad choice of words. They give the good with the bad.

To me it looks like the race is on to open by next weekend.

That's what I'm thinking. As long as Killington has the standard top-to-bottom fare open by the 10th, I'm happy...

Nice to see some snowmaking, but the extended forecast for next week looks questionable for an opening in the east before the second week in November.

And are you up here?

Do you know what the weather is forecast to be?

Now if you worked for these guys, you'd realize that temps are going to be borderline and there is a chance of snow/sleet/something frozen tomorrow in the Bretton Woods area.

IIRC last year you would have been jumping up and down saying that it was going to snow three feet while the rest of us were saying otherwise. Now that the weather is getting colder and there is a chance of snow, you seem to be going against the grain again. Why the change in POV?

Now for the big question, when's Woodbury going to check in. Should take them about 2 hours of snowmaking before they can open. :)

Actually I think he needs 2 1/2 hours;-)

The webcam shows the snowcannon on the slope but no activity yet. Temperatures look very marginal for snowmaking early next week.

I skied at Woodbury on opening day on November 9th 2003, when they opened the day before Killington:

Well, in Joshua's defense (I can't believe I'm saying that), you don't necessarily need to live up there to have a handle on what's going on. You don't live in the Whites do you, TTB? I live in CT. Because of that am I not qualified to comment on what's happening up North?

Do you know what the weather is forecast to be?
Anybody can find that:

Reminder: We link to all NWS forecasts from each ski area profile.

Agreed. Joshua comes here for just two months every season with posts that are filled with little more than random speculation. And despite your 180 from last year, it's still hype. If you have some solid information from a reliable source, sure, post it, but your posts have a definitive "this is what will happen" tone and quite frankly, you're often times wrong. We work hard to present accurate information that we've acquired from Industry insiders, or from folks at or near the resorts. These random guesses sort of dilute that...
