Date: January 4, 2008
Resort: Burke Mountain
Conditions: MG and P in the Woods.
Weather: Snow showers and mostly cloudy, cold start with temps below zero and slowly rising to about 15F.
2007-2008 Trip Report #: 23
Trip Report: Just another day at the mountain. I’ll let the photos do the talking for me. Met up with Chris “The Weather Dude” as well as Lisa and her friend Allen. Before Lisa and Allen arrived, I did a spin down East Bowl, which was untracked:
And then Chris and I did two runs composed of choice wood trails on and off the map. We did “Chainsaw Dance,” Birches (amazing), and a new run Chris showed me that I am dubbing “Ambrosia.”
“Chainsaw Dance:”
Birches:
“Ambrosia:”
By that point, we met Allen and Lisa. They had done a run down Willoughby so we showed them Powderhorn/Dipper Doodle, East Bowl (Allen and Chris hit a choice glade near there), and then Bear Den Ledges to McHargs.
Ledges:
After lunch and a great beer, we headed back out. Lisa and Allen opted to do some runs on the Lower Mountain while Chris and I did a spin down “Radar Love” and then into “Single Track” I guess we will call it. Both were amazing….I had skied part of “Single Track” with Chris, but not the lower part…wow. Nice trees and snow.
Trailboss on “Radar Love:”
“Single Track:”
We met back up with Allen and Lisa and did a spin down Willoughby with a detour onto Birches:
And then I closed with a long run down Toll Road, that is until Chris and I “had to take a detour” into an amazing Dipper Woods and Boarderline. Both were MONEY.
Great day…
The Album.
