This summer a few friends, my girlfriend and I adventured to Burke Mountain for some great mountain biking.

I have been mountain biking longer than I can count on my two hands and haven't had as much fun as this summers adventure.

During our stay at the camp grounds, I hiked up Burke Mountain and saw some great potential for some serious, amazing glades snowboarding.

Has anybody experienced the glades and can you share any recommendations on when we head up there this winter?

Thanks.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything but if you use the search function you could probably find a ton of stuff. Trailboss will probably tell you a bunch anyway.

quiet austin, we can never have enough burke threads on alipine zone  just kidding, the search function will provide you a huge amount of beta about burke.

that said, burke has some of the best glades around. especially since the mountain receives so little traffic, the snow holds up extremely well. most of the tree shots were only recently named and officially included in the trail count, so the word is starting to circulate. burke usually gets a good amount of snow being in northern VT and the ample coverage of the glades shows that. the lines are extremely well cut with a few really easy shots for first timers including one great area in the beginner area. everything from loose and easy to moderately tight and steep.

my recommendation is to try everything once then repeat what you think are your favorites. i'll see you in there.

Definately plan on going at least once. The new trail they built for mountain biking over the summer was pretty cool and had some great glades runs right above it.... now I just need to find it again; however, I'm sure I won't have any problems getting some sick lines in the Burke Glades.

Thanks the the PM offer.

Honestly, the ones on the map are great. No wind holds like at Jay and no crowds either. Solid 1500-1600 vert runs if you want.

I heard a new quad was installed right after I left, but found Burke to be a hidden gem out of all of the other mountains in Vermont.

Yes, they are putting a new POMA HSQ in the place of the lower double...which doesn't really affect you. That terrain down there is all beginner and the only thing down there is the lower lodge and condos. Go to MidBurke.

I started skiing when I was two years old at Burke. I love that mountain. Tons of great woods skiing and great east coast, haul ass trails. I highly recommend staying there for a few days. There's never any lines and the town is super cozy. Check out the Outback Pub when you're there. You can use you're pass from there to ride at Jay Peak as well.
