That was me who asked. Sure that isn't just a section that had a split that they cut out? That trail has fixed gear it would be odd to go into the season broken apart like that.
I have noticed the last few years they skip making snow on some trails: lower middle hardscrable, bypass moose alley at t brook ? and others? or just a minimal cover on some, broken pipe snowmaking $$ or just the cannon way

"lower" Hardscrabble has for sure seen snowmaking most years that I've skied there. Upper and middle always natural. I put lower in quotations as I've always felt it strange because it's a different trail all together than Upper and Middle hardscrabble

most of the legacy trails make sense: cannon, ravine, taft.

parallel middle and lower hardscrabble never made any sense, you look at maps from 60 years ago and the names have not changed. would love to know the history.

they are blowing taft slalom but nothing on upper ravine as far as I could see. think the resurfacing needs down low may have been greater than anticipated. trail of the day probably tramway, avalanche was brutal - suitable for sharp GS skis only.

Lower Hard has seen snowmaking. Bypass has been skipped the last two years. Paulies had a blow out about 2/3's of the way down that prevented snowmaking last year and caused a nice hole to form from the blow out that was filled over the summer. I had heard that the pipe may not have been repaired. Paulies pipes are relatively new. They were added in the first few years of JD. Before that lines were pulled thru the woods from Avy.

A booster pump has been repaired and a heat excahgner for a compressor has been replace. They are pounding the mountain right now. Upper Ravine and Taft going. Big Link, Missing Link witha few. Middle Ravine, Lower Ravine, Chute. Lower Gremlin from eagle cliff unload down to the ususal thin/bare spot(12 guns). 2 guns on middle cannon where the bare spot was earlier this week. I would say close to 100 guns running.

They'll resurface over the weekend and flip into expansion mode real quick. I guess Vermont didn't send over much of that snow

Any reason why Bypass keeps getting skipped? I’ve only been to Cannon a couple of times and it was closed both. Seems like a vital linke from upper mountain to lower mountain as well as a vital additional route off the Peabody HSQ.

I think you're right, I always forget lower hardscrabble is actually called that and just associate it as something else, but I do associate upper and middle as natural bumps.

The steep part of Bypass is hard to keep snow on; the wind blows right up that little knob and strips it to bare ice. It's a fun trail with nice views otherwise.

No snowmaking on bypass yet but damn are they blowing the main routes DEEP. I've gotta imagine they'll move on to that soon along with upper mittersill.

Can't see shit today. Zoomer pod skiing good. Tramway was nice but finding and riding the upper quad was a chore.i found a quiet corner in the lodge and busted out some push ups to warm up.

Edit-upper cannon is a good time with almost no traffic up top.

Braille skings the last 2 days esp from mid mountain up. Mittersill will probably be next for snowmaking and they have been up top for a quite a while now

in a year of under preforming storms, the few inches they got today really classed the place up, surface went from concrete to whipped butter. poor visibility prevailed up top but the groomers down low were about as good as I have skied this year. Hoses and portable guns have been deployed on barons, hoses are still on bypass, guessing they are next. No change I could see on Paulies or Profile.

Profile will go last I bet. It's a spring trail. Last year was late and it was great because it was all blown after the rains.

I like to smoke pot at the picnic table on bypass so looking forward to that.

Paulie may not see any snowmaking due a pipe issue. Avy and paulies above cat track need more snow to make it over to Banshee and Jaspers. Rocket is thin in a couple spots. I expect they will hit the front five again before going to Profile, skylight turnpike and lower hard
