considering its 2 for 1 on thursday I may chance it.. If not I'll hike to the top if I have too!!
It will be windy but once your in the woods it will be fine.

Are you referring to Cannon or Burke with regard to the 2 for 1. If Cannon, what are the details of the deal? After a quick glance, I saw no mention on their website.

EDIT: Got it (http://www.skinh.com/deals.cfm)

from their website Wednesday night...

All trails are open, except Tramline, Echo glade and Lakeview, and they will be checked out on Thursday. Kinsman glade will not open this winter, due to severe blowdown damage from a windstorm last fall.

Most of Cannons trails face North/Northwest. It will be windy at Cannon tomorrow.
same at burke but no wind issues at burke. i think the snow report is indicating that cannon is protected due to the the ridges for this type of wind. if it is a northwest wind, that would mean that the huge hulk of cannon would stop the wind from reaching the north/northwest slopes. if i am reading that correctly?

i just saw that. too bad about kinsman, but it is not exactly like cannon did a great job clearing it out in the first place. hopefully they will clean it up better this summer. i think what cannon means by "they will be checked" is patrolers are gonna have one helluva first run of the year down those trails  they deserve it though, cool beans.

OK,I just got back from Cannon. They received about 30 inches between Wed and Thurs. Here's the skinny on the questions asked before.Kinsman will not open "officially" this year due to severe blowdown of trees. The ski report actually talked about Kinsman this morning and said "if you do want to ski it,make sure you bring a chainsaw with you".A little humor there I guess.Tramline was skied today by a few people.I'd like to see the bottoms of their skis! I would not ski it yet. From the bottom you can see 4 or 5 rock faces that have not been filled in yet.As far as the wind,I was actually surprized at how windy it was today. The wind was out of the west norhtwest.Cannon actually does not get high north winds very often. All lifts did run which was not the case for a lot of areas.Jay,had most down,Sugarbush only ran 2,none on Mt Ellen,Stowe only had 2,Sugarloaf never got the Timberline or the Spillway running and Sunday River had issues also. I skied mostly the Zoomer side which was untouched by wind and very sweet.Had 2 great runs in Lakeside Glade which I have never seen enough snow in to ski it before.Made my way to the top and that was another story.4 to 5 ft wind drifts in many places.Hiked over to Mittersill and that was SWEET!!Anyway,I suspect nobodys reading this anyway cuz your all SKIING!!!!

nice report sikskier. impressive that lakeview glade skied nicely. i have done lakeview and echo a few times over the past few years and never really had a good time in either, maybe one or two good runs in lakeview but still took a lot of hits for my efforts. really impressive when those glades are nice.

Well, I'm reading this, with a bit of envy.
I set out of Boston this morning with intentions of hitting Cannon for a 1/2 half day.
I was planning on some traffic related delays - the usual morning road madness, getting through Boston in rush hour(s).
What I did not expect is that I 93 north (up in NH) would be closed for a good portion of the morning.

What a bummer. I would have ended up at Cannon so late, it wasn't worth the drive. So I called it a loss and decided to get some work done today.

Oh well, re-do on Friday.
