Ski racing does not mean anything to Vail. The focus is all on Epic. They’ve all but ended ski races at PCMR.The remaining NHARA races this year, originally scheduled to occur on bear, have all been moved. SG to barons, GS to cranmore. These are lucrative events, doubt bear runs again this year.
This is crazy to me. Registration fees alone for the event moved to barons this week approach $30K. That does not count F/B and companion tickets. Is vail so stupid to ignore a midweek/non-holiday $50K+ event?Ski racing does not mean anything to Vail. The focus is all on Epic. They’ve all but ended ski races at PCMR.

Park City isn't hosting any alpine events this go around. Some of the events that were at PCMR in 2002 are going to Snowbasin.Um, Birds of Prey at BC says otherwise, not to mention the Olympics are coming back to SLC. Vail has their warts no need to go looking....
Again, not to continue to beat a dead horse, but Vail's whole business model is the Epic Pass and anything that feeds into that. Local races do not fit that model. So they have pushed a lot racing programs out. In particular, look at Park City. The local racing programs literally had to build their own race training area at the Utah Olympic Park because Vail all but evicted them. This is crazy to me. Wow. Birds of Prey--ONE BIG race. My point was that Vail has all but killed access for local racing programs at Park City and other places. Saying that there is one big race at Beaver Creek does not disprove what I am saying. If anything, it proves it. PCMR used to have LOTS of big races for the US Ski Team and other programs. Hell, they used to have rock concerts with the races back in the 1980's and 1990's under Nick Badami. That all ended under Vail. As I said above, the local racing programs (all ages and US Ski Team) had to literally build their own training site outside of PCMR because PCMR did not want to continue to close and maintain terrain for these programs. Or lose parking to them. But yeah, the world's largest ski area owner still hosts Birds of Prey. Call me unimpressed.Um, Birds of Prey at BC says otherwise, not to mention the Olympics are coming back to SLC. Vail has their warts no need to go looking....
This. It was reported shortly after Utah won the Olympics that PCMR was cutting back on the events it was hosting. But PCMR certainly is still bragging about their (now less significant) role in 2034!Park City isn't hosting any alpine events this go around.
